this camera is really good, and i have gotten my money's worth on it.

Summary: I've had one of these cameras for 7 years now. I have taken tons of pics, and have had great success with it. Learning the manual controls on this were a snap, and it was a fun camera to grow into. I am currently in the need of a replacement, as mine has a small speck in the middle of the CCD or lens inside, and I dont want to pay to have it fixed or take it apart and not get it back together just to find out what it is. Also, my flash is no longer working.
If you can't afford a SLR this is almost as good for a lot less money.

Summary: I've had this for over 5 years. The complains about battery life can usually be traced to using a microdrive or a memory card in an adaptor that doesn't follow full industry spec and continues to draw current when the camera is turned off. The camera does shut off quickly in the default mode but this can be reset in the menu if you take the time to read the manual.
Summary: I have been using my S7000 for at least 7 years. It provides great photos using the Auto setting, especially in low light situations. I have taken beautiful sunrise and sunset shots with it in Auto mode. My wife is constantly amazed at the quality of the photos that this camera takes; she's an artist and has some training in photography. I haven't used my Olympus OM-1, 35mm since buying this camera.

Summary: I must say I have been totally pleased with the purchase of the S7000 camera. I owned a Fujifilm 6900Z prior to acquiring this camera and have found the S7000 to be a world apart in difference (much better). Utilizing the excellent digital media format (xD) or the older Microdrive/Compact Flash I or II media. Slots are provided for both.
Summary: i've had a 1.3mp olympus digital for some time now and went to this camera. If you're into the basics of photos (point and shoot)This camera has that with very good results. If you think that 6mp is over kill. Think of your last vacation photos can you really blow that up. Now ever wonder what your shot could have been like if you could just change something to make the pic look just the way you want.
Summary: I received the S-7000 about a week ago and have taken about 250 pictures with it so far. Generally, the image quality is very good even at the lowest setting (1M) and the resolution is a great improvement over my old Sony FD-91. The color is more true than with the Sony. My only dissapointments so far are: When you have an image with a solid background there is noticable noise that manifests itself as slight color splotchiness in dark backgrounds.
Superb for macro work but EATS batteries when using flash.

Summary: (See update posted August 2014 at end of this review) I chose the S7000 a few years back because it would allow me to develop macro photography without the need for separate lenses. I use the barrel which is usually needed for additional lenses, but with a protective AV filter instead. With this in place I can get so close to flowers for photography that the AV filter almost touches them --- the macro mode is BRILLIANT.
Excerpt: Fujifilm FinePix S7000 I have always been an avid photographer, though I would not say I was a brilliant one at all! I love taking photos of a whole range of things from people to scenery and flowers, though up until a few months back I only had a small, though perfectly decent, HP Photosmart digital camera so I was not able to experiment with photography the way I would have liked.
