Summary: I've had my camera for 7 months and it is very good value for money. It has many features and modes to choose from, and a friend who is a professional photographer told me it is virtually as good as a DSLR camera! A couple of tips I'd like to pass on are:- 1)Be prepared for delay of a second or two before you can take a photo when you switch camera modes. This is because a message appears on the LCD screen to tell you what you've set.
Summary: Yes I researched Which, etc before I bought this camera as I have a digital camera already a CANON power shot I do like the Canon...but I wanted more from a camera...The Fujifilm S5800 for the money is very good value..The battery life is really very good..Menu very good and clear..the ISO selection for the money is excellent..The super macro mode I have used with and without a stand again excellent.
Excerpt: HOW can I even begin to put into words how I feel about this Camera!? I've had alot of crap with digital Camera's (Other Brands) then I thought, right no more wasting money on Camera's... I'm going to get an AWESOME camera that I can keep for years! Well Ladies & Gentlemen... THIS is it! The photo's are superb. Honestly the best camer ever. The macro shots are beautiful, and makes it almost efforless to get the perfect photograph.
Pros: Beautiful Shots, Awesome Macro Settings, Also takes fairly good video's !
Cons: Maybe the size of it, but it is an SLR . It's to be expected .
Excerpt: I bought this camera almost a year ago and it still works perfectly. This is the third camera I own and is by far the best of all (my earlier cameras were Sanyo Xacti VPC-S4 and BenQ DC C1000). The 8 Megapixels are more than enough, and the 10x optical zoom works great. One of the things I like most about this camera is image quality. It's pretty cheap , about half the price of a DSLR. However, it manage to take amazing pictures, but not in all conditions.
Pros: 8 MP, great image quality, beautiful colors, record video with sound
Excerpt: I feel its a shame my s5800 broke, although the s1000fd i have now has far superior quality it was a great camera, ---PICTURE QUALITY--- Along the Long timeline of Fuji cameras this is one of my favorite. its simple design is great and it fulfills its primary function, to take photos. The quality of the photos is above my average standard, and a little bit above any point and shoot camera, The Funjinon Optics Sensor in this camera is very heat sensitive and if exposed to...
S5800 -- a good compromise between compact and DSLR
16 May 2009
Excerpt: Having previously owned a couple of other Fujifilm cameras and needing something to replace my aging compact, I took a punt on this and so far its proven its worth. To start with it fits well in your hand, is nicely balanced, not too heavy, your fingers fall naturally on most of the controls, and it has a nice solid feel. A couple of the buttons are a bit small and fiddly, but they're likely to be the least-used features so it's not a huge problem.
Pros: phenomenal battery life, quick, easy to use
Cons: no image stabilisation, awkwardly positioned flash
Fujifilm FinePix S5800 Digital Camera - FinePix is Fine!
V. Ago, Amazon
14 February 2009
Summary: The camera is very good. The Zoom could be better and I was tempted to get the x18 zoom model, but I was told that the picture was not as good as this machine. Picture wise, this Camera is very good. As good as my old Kodak 5 mega pixel camera of 5-years ago. The only down side with this camera is the practicality of the LCD display which gets easily covered in finger prints due to its prominent position: its hard to keep it clean!
