Fujifilm Finepix S5800: great "semi-pro" camera!!!
23 January 2011
Summary: My husband bought me this camera nearly 2years ago and I LOVE it to bits. I wanted a digital SLR but at the time but due to cost was unable to get 1. A friend who is a professiona photographer suggested i get a "bridge camera", and this is what this is. I personally like fuji as a make and feel the products are easy to use and good quality but not too expensive.
Pros: great quality photos, lots of settings, pro-like camera, good zoom
Summary: I bought this camera last year, prior to my DREAM trip to Peru- where I spent a lot of time in some very harsh weather conditions, whilst doing the INca trail in the Andes mountains and various other high altitude (very high altitude!) parts of the Andes. Anyways, this camera is one of my FAVOURITE "loves of my life".
Pros: Excellent value for money, jam packed with pro-like camera features, 10X optical zoom !
Cons: occassionally , some of the pictures have violet coloured circles in them

Summary: This handle with this camera is more comfortable to use than the standard type of camera. Having such a big optical zoom is a bonus because it's much less blury than digital zoom. The flash is very effective and it can be set in all the standard useful ways - automatic, indoor, etc. There are a variety of different settings to take your pictures - black and white, sepia, normal, night time, etc. The screen for exploring these features is large and easy to use.
Pros: Beautiful and a great optical zoom
Cons: Quite big so you can't pop it in your pocket
Summary: I bought this camera 12 months ago for £100 on amazon. The price it is advertised at now is more than double that (£264.99). Therefore, my first recommendation is: WAIT FOR A SPECIAL OFFER! This is an amazing camera . We took it to New Zealand for a month's holiday and we've taken some of the most spectacular photos I've ever seen.
Summary: Bought this camera for a relation who saw the 5700 model i had bought for myself a year earlier. Like me she is not a camera buff, just wants something reliable, works well does what it says on the box and doesn't eat batteries. If this is what you want this camera could be for you. The price from supplier was good, dispatch was quick, secure and well packed.
Summary: I have had 3 problems in 5 months with this camera. 1. SD card got stuck in the camera. It had to be sent back to Fuji to sort out. 2. The flash has stopped working and does not popup like it is supposed to 3. Random problem - The "zoom in" and "turn off" button seems to occasionally get muddled up and switch functions. When this happens the camera gets hot on the bottom and needs time to cool down before it starts working properly again.
Summary: Before buying this camera we did quite a bit of research and all the reviews said that this camera was excellent value for the price tag but was concerned that the reviews were too good to be true. They weren't, this camera has helped me and my boyfriend take photos that we would have never thought possible. I am very impressed with the image quality especially when using the zoom - there is little to no pixelation.
Pros: Great in natural light
Cons: Jams occasionally, picture quality deteriorates in low light
