The Movie mode captures videos with sound at 30 frames per second as long as there is space on the memory card, at either of 2 image sizes: 640 × 480 pixels or 320 × 240 pixels. During the recording the zoom is locked at the position it was at when the recording started, and so are the focus and white balance. Exposure on the other hand is adjusted dynamically. Read more
When we reviewed the S5500/5100's predecessor a year ago, Phil commented ' '. Well now we know; a lot better. All the positive attributes of the S5000, from the good design and handling to the impressive zoom range and wealth of photographic controls are now married to a sensor capable of doing them justice. And the result is a camera that offers an compelling option for those wanting a big-zoom camera on a tight budget. Like the models that came before it, the... Read more
The Fuji FinePix S5100 is one of the latest in a long line of Fujifilm long-zoom digital cameras. Fujifilm produces a wide range of digicam models, from bare-bones entry-level models up to and including a high-end digital SLR. To my mind though, their greatest success has been in creating good-quality midrange cameras that sell at very competitive prices, and the new Fuji S5100 is another good example of that trend. A couple of years back, Fuji brought long-zoom digicams... Read more
The bottom line: This responsive, well-rounded camera should get a serious look from anyone shopping for a megazoom model. Read more

This is the best digital camera I have used for the price that has come close to my manual 35mm camera. This camera has a lot of small features that boost it above and quick digital camera and still has ample lense adapters available. I recommend this camera for any one who is looking for that one step above a typical digital camera and enjoys the look and feel of a traditional 35mm. Read more
I think the S5100 is a good low-cost ultra zoom camera,it is a pity it doesn't have an image stabilizer which is needed for those long telephoto shots ad only has 4 mpix resolution, but it does have a good 10X zoom, the fringing and noise in some photos i found annoying and the LCD was hard to see in poor lighting.but otherwise has a nice selection of manual features and good photo quality. I think this is a nice little camera that could do better, but i prefare kodak or... Read more
For $250, I now have a camera with the same features as many $800-$900 cameras. For the average user, this is the ultimate digital camera. For the above average user, this is right on the money. Wonderful zoom, with wide-angle and zoom lenses available. I wish that there was more memory compatibility, but for $100, I got 1GB, which yields me over 500 fine 4MP shots, or over 1000 standard. Additionally, the wide variety of modes at it's lowest (640x480 allows for almost... Read more

I bought the Fuji S5100 in August 2005 after much research but I figured I'd end up with a Fuji anyway (my film cameras have always been Fujis and a friend has an older model of this camera). Anyway, I love it! We got a great deal on it at Best Buy and have had nothing but great pictures come from it using many of the settings. This is a great camera for both beginning digital users and experienced photographers. Read more
