Summary: I purchased this camera from employee discount for $900. When I got the camera it wouldn't work. After shooting one image, camera got locked up. shutter wouldn't come back down, nor switch off. I had to pull out the battery to reset. that's not the worst part, Returning back to fujifilm was so much hassle that I had call my AMEX to dispute the charges to get my full refund back. Never again will I buy fujifilm.
Summary: I'm an experienced professional film photographer, and I bought the Fuji S5 to take advantage of the Nikon lenses I already own. I intended to use it for studio product photography (to offer clients a quicker, cheaper substitute to 4x5 and 6x7), and the advertised 12MP sensor was about perfect to fill a magazine page. The great part of the S5 is the film simulation modes and color rendering.
Pros: Color quality, Comfortable Controls, Dynamic range, Quiet, Small Lag Time, Strong Construction
Excerpt: The best DSLR I''ve owned to date. Started off with Nikon D50, then progressed to D60 then Fuji S3 Pro. The S5 produces the best colour saturation in digital format that I''ve seen. also with the faster shutter speeds and extended ISO range it is great for wildlife and sports photography. Moving from nion to Fuji means I can still use my Nikon an Sigma Nikon-fit lenses.
