Summary: I was replacing a Fuji S5700 with this camera and I am more than disappointed. I was used to a flash that popped up when needed. The photos were always clear, crisp and in focus. I was excited about the 14 megapixel and the 18x zoom and in the past always swore by my Fuji. What a complete and absolute disappointment. I now have many photos out of focus, I'm not sure what I have gotten with the extra megapixels. And I really can't get a good photo with the extra zoom.
Pros: The zoom is great and it is comfortable to hold!
Cons: Blurry images even when taken on a tripod. The lens cap is useless too. The blink detection detects a blink where there are no faces present like in a curtain or a tree branch. The different flash settings are unavailable in the commonly used modes.
Summary: ULTRA TINY CAMERA!NO GOOD!I "almost" bought this camera few days ago at Best Buy in Columbia Heights NW DC all sounded perfect to me online and in the phone with pushy sells man...BUT when I got there they won't let me take the camera out of the box until I pay for it...huh??do I have to pay just to see the camera 3 employees told me the same, there are no show test camera available you must pay first then see...I said no way Jose..
Summary: I HATE this camera! I had the S700 a few years ago and LOVED it. It got knocked off of the bleachers at a football game so I had to buy a new one. The 700 wasnt available at Wal Mart anymore so I went with the 2950! You would think being newer it would be better?? No way! The flash is not automatic so you have to open it before it works. The pictures half of the time are blurry you have to turn the camera off and back on to get a clear picture.
"I love everything about it but the pictures it takes."

Pros: I love the size, 18x zoom, face recognition, 4xAA batteries, & many other features. I took 1000 pix over eight weeks trying to figure out how to make this camera take acceptably sharp pictures. A summer's pix totally unusable. :-(
Cons: I bought it, shot many pictures, and most, tho not all, were out of focus. I returned it as intermittently defective, and received another (actually S2940, same but packaged for WalMart). It was no better. Returned the 2nd camera for refund.
