Summary: This is very nice starter point/shoot camera.Has nice controls and easy to navigate thru menu's.This is my second Fuji Finepix camera,my original was a S1500 model, this S2950 is a nice upgrade.if you are an advanced photographer this is not your camera, but for everyday pic taking around the house or on vacation, this is a super camera.
Summary: This camera is a great value and overlooked because it won't zoom as much as others. Who needs that much zoom? Without a tripod zooming is tough anyhow.I use mine daily. I am an insurance inspector. I have this and a GE X550. they are comparable but the Fujifilm is faster at picture cycle time and the zoom works faster for zooming in on roof close ups. Just set it to auto and it will hardly ever miss a shot. I don't know about the video mode, I have never tried it.
Excerpt: I'm reviewing the S2980, maybe is quite different from the Finepix *50 and the *90 but specs are very similar. well I just bought this compact bridge camera for my girlfriend who wanted to take some decent pics "maybe sometimes also in manual or not-fully-automatic modes". she was bored of her old compact camera point-and-shoot (think it's an old tiny sony with 8mpx) and asked me to look for a bigger, reflex-like, more stable, with a decent optical zoom, camera.
Pros: Amazing indoor shooting if you set it right, lots of features and great price as well. I use it for any photography and it's the best I have ever owned. I have owned point and shoot cameras and they are not as good as this one
Cons: It's not as good as focusing during events that are in the dark so I would suggest the night setting
meets my needs for light, versatile & reliable

Summary: I bought it as a replacement for another FinePix camera I had that had a broken battery compartment. It's small, versatile, light and ideal for work on jobsites. It's not so expensive that I'd get upset if it gets broken due to rough treatment, but so far it is holding up fine.
Summary: The camera worked fine. I didnt expect to get the quality of a $600 camera. I'm glad to have the camera, and I got it for a great price. I've gotten some decent to great shots from this so far; some I could even place commercially.
Terrific camera for the performance and value! A++++

Summary: I am primarily a point-and-shoot photographer, and this camera has filled all of my needs. The size and shape is perfect for one-handed point and shoot, with all of the controls placed within a fingers reach. The digital viewer is the real plus in bright daylight, as no display screen, even as large and bright as this, can overcome the desert glare. The AA batteries make it easy to replace anywhere, and provide a little more heft in your hand, a plus for me.
