The camera also supports EXR Priority modes and EXR Auto, Pro Focus Mode and Pro Lowlight Mode, 5 Film Simulation Modes (Black & White mode and Sepia mode is added), a 2.7 inch high contrast 230k-pixel LCD display, ‘Super Intelligent Flash’, and supports CCD-RAW (EXR)/JPEG shooting. The camera supports a CCD sensor, EXR modes that adjusts scene mode according to ambient surrounding, Multi frame technology, Pro Focus Mode, and Pro Light Mode. The camera also features Film Simulation Mode, Dual Image Stabilization, ‘Super Intelligent’ Flash, Face Detection technology and auto red eye reduction functions.
The Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR also offers EXR Priority Mode with High Resolution Priority (HR) to maximize resolution, High ISO and Low Noise Priority (SN) for high quality low-light work or D-Range Priority (DR) for detail with contrasting subjects. The FinePix S200EXR also features the EXR Auto Mode, which supports 6 different modes: Portrait, Night, Macro, Landscape, Night Portrait and Backlit Portrait. The camera automatically recognizes the scene and optimizes focus, color balance, exposure, flash and sensitivity, as well as automatically switches the sensor to HR, SN or DR mode depending on the lighting conditions of the scene. The 14.3x Fujinon manual zoom lens supported in the S200EXR’s compact form factor achieves maximum resolution at 30.5mm-436mm equivalent focal lengths with maximum aperture of a bright F2.8 (wide angle) to F5.3 (telephoto). The camera also features Multi Frame Technology which includes: Pro Focus Mode that provides shots of subjects that are synthesized against a defocused background and foreground and Pro Low-light Mode, which is applied to solving the problems of noisy low light shots. The camera takes bursts of four high sensitivity images using Pixel Fusion Technology in quick succession and overlaps the first, second, third and fourth image with Multi Frame Technology, creating one image with extremely low noise. The S200EXR also features five different film ‘modes’ such as Velvia/Vivid mode for landscapes, PROVIA/Standard mode for standard photography, ASTIA/Soft mode for optimal tonality, Black & White mode and Sepia mode. Other features on the S200EXR include Optical Image Stabilization technology for blur-free images, even in low-light conditions; Manual Settings for full manual control of the shutter speed as well as aperture; Multi Bracketing and combined CCD RAW (EXR)/JPEG shooting mode.

Aimed at top-end enthusiasts looking for excellent picture quality without the expense of a DSLR system, the Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR combines the pin-sharp 14.3x zoom lens so popular in the FinePix S100FS with the latest 12 megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor, which has won a string of awards since its introduction... This Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR Review is based on a production model. All sample images are unretouched, except where specified. The Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR is the "almost DSLR" Super Zoom and is easily the best bridge DSLR-like digital camera. As if to make the point clear, the S200EXR looks like a DSLR, has the dimension and weight of one, and handles like one with its deep grip, manual zoom ring and lots of dedicated control buttons. In size and weight, the S200EXR... Read more

Given the versatility of competing camera formats it would be easy to overlook this type of camera; however, the S200 does offer impressive performance for a comparatively reasonable price. The S200's technology is very clever and it is possible to achieve some great-looking shots - a combination which I'm sure will appeal to many compact photographers looking to upgrade. In terms of real handling though, the S200 is no match for a full DSLR; the lack of proper manual... Read more
We were looking forward to the S200EXR, but were actually quite disappointed by it: it does the job, but the arrival of the Super CCD EXR sensor has pushed out the wide-angle lens and rotating screen without breaking any real benefits, mostly because it hasn't been well integrated into how the camera is used. I have owned a Fuji Finepix before and it was a good camera for a two mega-pixel. Time moves on and I replaced it with a five mega-pixel Kodak Z740, a nice camera with better definition but the colour generally needed a light touch up with photoshop. When I saw the all singing all dancing Finepix touted by Fuji to be the ultimate in bridge cameras with absolute pin sharp definition comparable to a DSLR ( I gave up SLR's when the wheelbarrow for the accessories became... I opted to migrate from DSLRs to bridge cams so that my choice was Fujifilm S200EXR. Photos came out same or better than many DSLRs with no hassle, no difference at all. My opinion is that no sensor matches Fuji's CCD. Comparable would be FF sensors, however, why paying for a FF to use raw and then photoshop ? My prognostic is that in the near future digital DSLRs will no longer be of any interest once digital pics did not yet reach the quality of the 35mm analog films.... Read more
