Excerpt: Ithicajim's already done an excellent review. I've been using my S2000HD for about eight months, and I agree with every point he made. All in all, though, I'd say this camera works better as a camcorder that it does as a still device. In decent light (including any well-lit interior), the video quality is very good. So is the sound. The only point of major frustration is that it suffers from some wandering focus issues.
Summary: I own two DSLRs but I take this with me when I shoot with my Hasselblad or Leica as a backup. With S2000HD, the lens does not extend too much at 414mm and keeping overall size still compact, which I like very much. And the image quality as well as optic is super. I did research in the web for side by side comparison test with similar models and S2000HD is as good as other much more expensive models. However, there are major problems.
Pros: Comfortable Controls, Easy To Use, Great Image Quality, Image Stabilization, Short time lag
Excerpt: Quite a dinky camera, nice images if you take the time, set up & corresponding choices a little confusing, I always seem to be jumping into the Menu for something. Shutter delay & VF blackout on par for the price, I would have expected a little better from Fuji. Once you have mastered the Menu system and the odd few buttons around the camera it's a 'happy' family camera.
Summary: The FujiFilm S2000HD arrived a week ago and I noticed that the LCD display, when taking a picture, and when reviewing certain pictures, had a line running down the right 1/3 of the LCD screen - and the screen was just a tad darker to the right of the line vs the left side. The line wasn't apparent 80% of the time, but was a distraction on a new camera. I got an RMA from Amazon and returned it yesterday.
Excerpt: Very cute, but maddening to use. After two weeks of hands-on work with this camera, I've concluded a) it's very cute and does many things well but b) it can be maddening to use. What it does well: • In good light, it takes photos and high definition video which are sharp and have good color saturation. • The tiny flash is surprisingly powerful, even when lighting a fairly large room. • It offers a wide range of image sizes and formats (ie., 16:9, 4:3, etc.
Summary: Not as good as expected. First camera return to Fuji as faulty but got no satisfaction from Fuji. When telephoned to complain we were fed a load of rubbish. There was a fault with exposure and also view finder gave a very blue image in certain lights. Complaint was then made to Amazon who sent a replacement which is much better but still not as good as a SLR. Zoom quality is very good.
