Summary: S2000HD Not recommended
Pros: Full featured: HD video, 15x zoom, wide angle., Good build feel and weight., Large LCD., Good grip position and overall ergo design., Good IQ and saturated colors in bright light.
Cons: Inconsistent focus, esp. in video mode and at long zoom., Purple streaks appear on LCD in bright light - these don't appear in still shots, but do sometimes appear on videos., Overall video quality not very good despite HD resolution., Slow startup., Tends to overexpose highlights., Lot of noise in low light., Menu required for some common functions (such as self timer;) where others have buttons., Below average weather resistance and overall sturdiness/reliability. Summary: For the money, I really expected more from this camera. Even my tiny Nikon micro-handheld camera goes down to an f3.3; and this Fuji with the nice big lens only goes down to 3.5? C'mon. Most superzoom cameras these days go down to f2.8, which provides much better image quality by allowing lower ISO and faster shutter speeds. The lack of adjustablity in the aperature is disappointing; you really can only choose either a 3.5 or 7.0 (nothing in between).
Pros: The brand. They make a great camera. (Usually) TONS of settings from beginner to expert and all in between. Large 15X zoom lens. Easy to handle and operate. Features "auction" mode for EBAY listings to group several shots in one collage-style frame.
Cons: LCD display was of terrible quality for the price! Very "grainy" when in focus mode. Imagine watching an old TV. Graininess made it very distracting when trying to focus on your subject, especially in low light situations.
Summary: Could not hold camera steady enough to take shot even with stabilizer enabled. Returned this and purchased a Canon SX10 IS which didn't have any problem with stabilization on same shots. Canon does not have HD but I already have a Flip Minio so I didn't need the HD function. Overall the Fuji pictures were good quality as long as you didn't use the zoom feature or shoot close ups that needed stabilization.
Vast amount of features - but dubious picture quality

Summary: Having owned a Fuji F602 Zoom for many years, I was looking forward to receiving this gift from my wife. The 602 image quality (bearing in mind it is a 3MP camera) was fantastic producing clear precise images across a range of speeds and apertures. Its 'auto' setting also produced excellent results. So it came as a surprize when I downloaded my first images from the 2000HD that they all appeared blurred - and those taken using the integral flash were all overexposed.
Summary: I read all the other reviews at Amazon for this camera and not one mentioned the time delay from when you press the shutter to when the camers actually captures the picture, truely awuful. I bought it to take pictures of my 2 year old daughter and have taken about 100 pictures, i will be lucky if i have 5 decent pictures as the camera is just not quick enough to 'capture the moment'
Summary: Much about this camera is great, but it is seriously flawed by its inaccuracy in handling reds - seem to come out as pink. Never had a similar problem with any of the many other digital cameras I've owned and used over the years. Astonished that you can buy in camera in 2009 with such a significant shortcoming.
