Summary: Broke down after only ~50 shots. The symptom: after a picture is taken nothing appears on the display. The camera hang up, the indicator constantly blinks amber/green and the camera cannot be turned off. (a battery must be removed).
Summary: I purchased this camera for my daughter's 18th birthday. It took beautiful pictures for approximately one month then quit taking pictures. Or should I say it took pictures but did not save them. It only gave an error message when you tried to retrieve the pictures. Furthermore after taking one or two pictures the camera would freeze up forcing you to remove the batteries to reset the camera.
Summary: I recieved this item in Oct. 2010. I have had two Fuji cameras and was very satisfied with them. The first S1800 I received I returned after 7 days because of issues with the camera. I promptly received a replacement. I have been using this camera since the end of October 2010. It took good pictures and was capable of a decent short video clip. However in early January 2011 it stopped working. It seems as if the internal shutter is not opening.
Summary: I bought this camera and had to exchange it because the first one kept freezing up and wouldn't turn-off unless I took out the batteries. (I also went through the first set of batteries in a matter of about 5 days...so ridiculous-would suggest getting rechargeable lithium batteries for this type of camera) Also, after I'd take a picture it would sometimes say "READ ERROR" and any pictures that I had just taken would not show up on the memory - same would happen when it...
Summary: I originally purchased this camera for everyday photography and especially for getting action shots at my son's soccer games. First off, the quality of photos with moving subjects is very poor, even when on sport mode and using a tripod. Also, ordinary photos are pretty good, but still are a little fuzzy. It seems the only time a clear photo can be taken is when you are outside in the sun taking a picture of a still subject.
Summary: The camera was defective. Only used it one weekend and it shut off without warning twice, told me to "turn off and back on" once, seemed to freeze up on several occasions and wouldn't let me turn it off or use any of the adjustments for a few second, and the view finder and LCD screen turned green and white once and purple several times. I took well over 200 shots using wide angle, zoom, close up, w/ and w/o flash, video...
Summary: I have owned this camera for barely two months. I noticed a black spot on the LCD, which I discovered was also showing up on the photos. I called Fujifilm, and they said the warranty covers repair only, that even though this model may have a design flaw, they would not accept it as a return, nor let me upgrade. Wow, what a fantastic company that won't even allow an upgrade within TWO MONTHS of purchasing a very obviously faulty piece of equipment.
Summary: When i first purchased this camera it worked fine, then as the months rolled by,it started to play up.Annoying little things such as, intermittently not working in some programmes, then the flash would'nt go off, until finally it just got totally jammed and refused to work altogether! An expensive lesson learnt. Hey ho,that'll teach me to purchase refurbished items in the future!!
Summary: I have had this camera for a year and a few months now and only ever used it on two trips to South Africa. At home I find it's easier to just use my cellphone it seems to take better pictures anyway. Now when I switch the camera on it says TURN OFF THE CAMERA AND TURN IT ON AGAIN". Doing this doesn't seem to make any difference and neither does changing the batteries. Amazon could not assist as it was out of their 1 year manufacturers warranty period.
