Summary: Bought this as replacement for same camera that just stopped working. We must be fools but this is the 3rd Fuji we have had and hopefully it will not just stop working like the other ones. This came in fine condition for used and I am getting an extended warranty this time because Fuji has lousy customer ser ice!!!!!!
Pros: Tilting LED screen, fair super macro quality, pretty good size, OKAY lighting.
Cons: Difficult to zoom without jumping, terrible slow motion video lighting, bad quality unless you're really close to the object, weird flash, difficult to figure out how to use different modes, bad quality when zoomed up, too expensive for what it is.
"Useful for the massive lens, otherwise mediocre camera"
26 January 2011
Pros: Pros -- massive lens. Good performance at high ISO (reviewers are way too picky on 800 and 1600, I've had excellent results). Excellent handgrip feel. Takes lovely landscape pictures. Strong macro performance.
Cons: Cons -- Poor performance in all other aspects.
Summary: People Like the HS10 -------------------- First off, this camera can be a fun camera to use and that's probably one reason why some people like this camera. I liked this camera initially but as time wore on there were just too many snags that ultimately gave me reason to return it. The Deal Breaker: False Battery Status -------------------------------------- The first one everyone will be familiar with is the false low-battery status message that this camera displays.
Excerpt: Lives up to the hype. Very good image quality. Incredible zoom range. Image stabilization really works well for full-zoom, hand-held shooting. Great video quality. Sweeping panoramic is fun and effective. Problems: None yet.
Cons: You get too many unexplainable blurry pictures in broad day light. The controls on the grip sometimes prevent you from getting your shot until you get your hand off. The manual zoom creates shaky video and it uses 4 AA batteries! Who thought of that?
Excerpt: Shot-to-shot times a real pain. Average IQ; low quality zoom images lacking detail. Macro ability superb. Problems: 2 Firmware Updates appear to have repaired many prior issues while some remain.
Summary: I awaited for almost 2 months in anticipation of this camera when it was first announced around the beginning of February. I finally got my hands on it on April 7th, 2010. Unfortunately after a month using I returned it today to my local Walmart store. Image quality was a big let down. You can see plenty of noise and image artifacts at anything over ISO 100.
Summary: I'm a big fan of wide angle/high zoom p&s cameras for their practicality. I've owned Panasonic FZ series for the last several years and have been extremely happy with my current FZ35. My interest was sparked by the introduction of the HS10. The manual zoom with 24mm-720mm lens range was the draw. More on both ends of the lens than my FZ35. Plus the 10mp vs 12mp was a good thing to me (generally less noise with high ISO shots). The camera build and feel is solid.
