  • Summary: Compact and solidly built. It takes surprisingly good pictures in low light and the image stabilizing works very well, even in low light. I am an avid photographer who wants a lot of control over my camera and this provides it. In addition I can shoot in RAW which is almost unheard of for that type of camera. The zoom performs very well and I have taken pictures in low light at 500mm (equivalent) which are very sharp.

Easy for the amateur; reliable and logical menus; good on-camera software

J. Bullock, Amazon

  • Summary: Perhaps a bit pricey for the amateur, but nice features, easy for the amateur / reliable menus and on-camera software (trust me, some other cameras have great hardware specs, but fail on this). Has a few features that pros will appreciate for quick snaps, too. I have enjoyed tagging along with this camera with my wife while she does the real photography with her real professional equipment and have been able to come up with some nice prize-winning results of my own,...

Great Pix to remember my trip

William J. Wheeler "wheelin", Amazon

  • Summary: Great camera. I am notorious for taking blurry photos, but this little guy has my back! I took it all over Europe and came home with outstanding memories. The zoom works really well. The size is easy to handle. I could slip it in my backpack or coat pocket and not look like a tourist. I'd buy it again in a minute.

  • Summary: such lovely camera. well built and with all features that one would need. picture quality was very poor though. jpegs looked barely OK when viewed on a computer and when viewed at 100% they were all blotches and totally unacceptable. i tried both auto mode and manual mode, all different iso's. very sorry it did not work for me pic quality wise cause otherwise it was almost superb.

Very Disappointed

Rita J. Moffitt, Amazon
16 October 2014
  • Summary: Love all this camera's cool functions. However, I bought it for a once-in-a-life time trip to Peru and the fourth day in it suddenly showed a 'Read Error ' and I could not review pictures previously taken. It also showed a 'Write Error' when trying to record a video. I reviewed the manual and did not find any fault related to user error, the last option was camera malfunction. Very disappointing as it put a big damper on my trip.

A very impressive little camera

  • Summary: First I would like to rant a bit. I don’t know why the comparison in many camera reviews is to compare the reviewed camera to a DSLR. This is like comparing a go-kart to a Ferrari, both are fun to drive but that may be all they have in common. A point-and-shoot or bridge camera is not a DSLR so why compare them. Second, when a camera has the zoom capabilities of 10x or more one should be using a tripod for the best shooting at long zoom ranges.
