Blind Field

David P., Newegg
30 May 2008
  • Summary: If you have the money to get a compact just for indoors, overcast days, and lowlight situations, this is the camera you would want, because by virtue of all it's features, it is excellent for that; but if you need a compact for sunny days too, get a Canon SD850 IS ELPH; it is a most highly rated...
  • Pros: It is one nifty little camera with some nifty little features, and is pretty dog gone compact. Also the instructions are well done, and break it down to simplicity very well, and also seem to be quite complete.
  • Cons: I had returned it, even though there was nothing wrong with it. If you want a compact for ever taking shots on a bright sunny day, you need to stay away from a camera without a viewfinder. If all you have is an LCD to find your frame, there will be times outdoors when the sun will be in the wrong...

Fuji is losing the appeal of the F-series

James K., Newegg
19 May 2008
  • Summary: Even though I only gave it 3 stars, it is still probably one of the best P&S cameras on the market, which is sad. ALL camera manufacturers are shoving too many Pixels into small sensors, causing high amounts of noise with minimal increase in detail. I use this camera at 6MP.
  • Pros: Small, Light, Great Lens, Good exposure, Good detail ISO100-200 Good color, Good flash metering, A/S priority, many ISOs to choose from. The screen looks great, the camera is very attractive with a good menu system and many useful features.
  • Cons: Purple CCD banding in live preview and videos that have bright light sources. (First version sent back, it was really bad, second version not as bad, but still there) 12MP sensor a joke compared to the old 6MP one. High ISO has gotten 1-2 stops worse overall, and NR has been made much stronger to...

Don't expect too much on this one

Philip A., Newegg
14 May 2008
  • Summary: If you have owned Fuji F line models, especially like F30fd, F31fd, F11fd, F20fd), you might not be satisfied with this one. You'll be somewhat disappointed. But, if you are new to Fuji cameras, then you would like it.
  • Pros: First off, I have used Fuji F20fd before I purchased this one. I was satisfied with my former camera, but it got broken. Since I was satisfied with the pictures that Fuji makes, I thought of upgrading a bit to one that has higher mega pixels. I had read more than hundreds reviews on different web...
  • Cons: But when I first got it, the first thing that came to my mind was, 'I want to take this back, and get my old camera back'. The reason is that it has more noise in dark light circumstance, (compare to F20 model-has 6.3MP)the video quality is lower(it takes 5pictures less per a sec). I expected som...

low light and detail disappointing

Anonymous, Newegg
31 December 2007
  • Summary: good for snapshot use, especially if the features have caught your attention, no good for picky photographers, even by snapshot standards
  • Pros: takes attractive colors, lots of handy, clever, and useful features
  • Cons: detail in any light and noise in low light let me down upgrading from a 1.5 year old 6mp snapshot

An... interesting approach by Fuji.

R. Hiranaka, Amazon
8 November 2007
  • Summary: First off I should state that I do not own this camera. I've been using my friend's F50fd against my own F31fd. He picked up the F50fd simply because he enjoyed how my camera worked. It uses Fuji's typical interface: Simple but a bit clunky.

Decent Camera but does not live up to Fuji's reputation

Trevor Goodchild, Amazon
30 October 2007
  • Summary: I am a big fuji-o-phile. I have taken this camera out 2 or 3 times and I own several of their f series cameras (f10 and f30 and of course the f50). My feeling is this camera is below average in its performance when compared to other cameras of its class.

1/1.6 SuperCCD is a joke

J. Liu "JXL", Amazon
30 October 2007
  • Summary: The reason I get this camera is the 1/1.6 Super CCD is suposed to be better than 1/1.8 CCD in Canon G7. HoweverI got my Fujifilm F50fd yesterday, after 10 mins, I already decided to return it. 1)At all the auto mode except M and A/S,iso setting can't be changed. noise level is horrible.

I want to fall in love with it, but I could not

R. Shu "Lake Leman", Amazon
26 October 2007
  • Summary: The legendary Fuji Finepix F31fd made huge waves in compact/ultra compact digital camera market since it was announced. It got 5 stars rating on all reputable DP review web sites: DPreview.com, DCRP.com, Cnet, consumersearch.com, digitalcamerainfo.com, digitalphotographyblog, you name it.

Huge Dissapointment when compared to F30/F31

Anonymous, Newegg
26 October 2007
  • Summary: I bought the F40 hoping to be able to pass on my F30 to my girlfriend. Even though the F40 was performing close to the F30 I still noticed some differences in photo/video quality that kept my F30 solidly in my case. The F40 was given to my fiance. Then I awaited the release of the F50, anxiously!
  • Pros: • Thinner, easier to carry if you stick it on a shirt pocket or a sweater pocket, cargo pocket, etc. Thats nice. • The F50's on-screen menu is quite nice, the layout of the buttons has changed slightly, some may like it but I do not. They took away the area where you put your right hand thumb, it...
  • Cons: • From the start, and beginning with the physical feel of the camera... it has a lighter feel with a much cheaper, more plastic overall look and touch. Not good. Our F30 has dropped several times one time from the roof of a sedan and the thing took the impact on asphalt surprisingly well. I could...

Fuji F50fd digital camera

Ciao
28 July 2010
  • Summary: Fuji, like other camera manufacturers seem to bring out new models about 2-3 times a year each one with more features, more mega pixels and more little tweaks than the next that its hard to see where it will all stop!
  • Pros: easy to use
  • Cons: Digital noise at higher ISO
