Fuji delivers a highly pocketable digicam with some novel features like ISO speeds up to 12,800. DSLRs are the fair-haired children of the camera business, and yet aim-and-forget models still make up 90% of all actual sales. Sure, DSLRs have humungous sensors and take high-def videos , but they’re relatively affordable, an important consideration in this lovely economy. Read more

Looking at the differences between the F100fd and the F200 EXR (if you can find them), you very quickly come to the conclusion that the F200 EXR is essentially an F100fd with a clever new sensor inserted. This is no bad thing, since the F100fd was a pretty popular camera and change of sensor may well address the most discussed shortcoming (pink banding appearing in high-ISO shooting). Read more

With the F200 EXR Fujifilm has brought a new standard down to a wider market. Those not wishing to process Raw images but still wanting quality results will welcome the flexibility of the EXR sensor, as well as the results it produces. Detail at lower ISOs is stunning and the extended dynamic range is appreciated, though with little in the way of manual control and lack of functionality I doubt the camera will steal much thunder from the high-end, enthusiast compact... At the time of righting, it Fuji Finepix F200 EXR produces the highest quality images of any ultra-compact and even ultra-zoom, regardless of resolution. At 6 megapixels, the F200 furthers its lead in terms of noise by a factor (in low-noise mode) and by a big lead in terms of dynamic-range (in high-dynamic-range mode). This is quite an achievement, so congratulations Fuji! There is a lot to like beside image quality here. Read more

It may not be the most attractive compact on the display table, but the Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR proved itself a high-performance machine by the end of our test drive. The new EXR technology passed with flying colors and image quality was the best we could expect for a compact in this class. The Finepix F200EXR also brims with features and has a 28mm wide-angle lens. Read more

The Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR is a camera with a new generation of image sensor that offers special modes for reducing image noise or improving dynamic range. 1. A great subcompact but failed after just over a year

I did a lot of research before buying this camera. I was looking for a subcompact that could take decent low light pictures, period. That was my biggest complaint for subcompacts. I have not used it extensively and will probably update my review after my first vacation but I did some testing taking pictures next to a camp fire at night. The results were outstanding. Both myself and my friends were amazed. Read more

I don't recommend it at all, because of this zoom design function, it has everything else to 100%, but because of zoom error which software failure to help manual turn it off, renders my camera useless. This camera would be a 4-5 if it didn't have this terrible design flaw. Manual Zoom with auto on aperture, and software to render error void, would really help make this camera very good. Read more

The dynamic range increase (DR mode) really works: I get at least 2.5 stops beyond the normal range and this makes a huge difference especially shooting interiors with windows to the outside. For me, this alone makes me happy with my purchase. Its low light performance is also terrific, although sometimes results are better than others and I haven't figured out exactly why yet. Read more

I've purchased the F200 for about a month ago and made hundreds of pics. All I can say, that IQ is very good. Just as good as my S9600 that has a brighter bigger lens. It is indeed sharper and clearer than my S9600. EXR mode is useful but not that much, still, DR and HR modes are excellent. SR mode needs further development I think. Construction is great. It is a quality product made of good material. Purple fringing is well handled (almost none). Read more

I carry this camera when I don't want to lug my D300 and lenses around. While it isn't perfect (I think Canon's P&S models offer a better user interface) I think it offers the best image quality of any compact currently available. The extra dynamic range of the EXR mode means no more blown skies, something that always annoyed me about my F30. Purple fringing is also far less prevalent. Read more

A very compact camera capable of taking really great pictures. The EXR mode allows for really good shooting in poor light and bright situations, although I'd say the Dynamic Range mode is better than the Signal Noise SN mode. Low light pictures still end up very grainy and the camera isn't really useable in night time situations without the flash. Dynamic range mode can be used to excellent effect on bright sunny days.
