The FinePix F100fd ($379) is the top model in Fuji's venerable F-series of digital cameras. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the F-series, these cameras were somewhat famous for their low light / high sensitivity shooting abilities. As Fuji started to play the Megapixel game (along with everyone else) with the F50fd, that advantage started to decline a bit. Read more

The Fujifilm FinePix F100fd is capable in a variety of situations, typically getting good color and exposure even under harsh lighting conditions. Its performance is limited indoors, however, with poor low light results and limited flash range. Still, as an outdoor camera, the FinePix F100fd records some amazing resolution for such a small camera. I'd like to see the maximum shutter time in the Auto modes extended beyond the 1/4-second limit (the camera can go as long as... Read more

After reviewing the Panasonic FX35, I was sure I'd discovered the compact to get for my sister who wanted to take photos without any real involvement other than being there, but now comes the Fuji F100fd and the decision is up in the air. The Read more

A bad IQ can not be fixed easily by other means, so do a narrow angle when I shoot wide natural scenes in mountains while I have almost no possibility to move further away. F30 is good at IQ but bad at angle, while F100 is opposite. Read more

This camera is a mix of good and bad. It has the potential to shoot great photos, but on auto mode doesn't do so as often as many cameras. Mine also has the pink band problem on the LCD which makes checking focus and exposure difficult. The band does not show on the review screen or computer copies, but it's still distracting. (I applied the firmware update as instructed--this didn't fix a thing.) The camera is solidly made, has many controls in the menus, the ability to... Read more

This camera is way underrated in this forum. Being a Coolpix 3100 user for several years I took top of the line Coolpix S600 and was rather disappointed with it - lots of chromatic aberrations, image noise, inability to shoot in the dark, etc. I also tried top-scored (in this forum) Canon 790 IS and had to return it either. Canon is a good camera, but only during the day. Finepix 100fd has excellent image quality during any time of the day! Colors are beautiful and... Read more
