Summary: My older Vivicam had quit working so I needed a replacement. The Fujifilm camera has worked very well for my purposes. It is easy to use and takes very good quality pictures. It is lightweight and small. Screen size nice. Batteries don't last as long as I would like but is acceptable. Would like to have a viewfinder in the camera, but not many seem to have this feature anymore. Overall, a great little camera.
Summary: great for first time user--not so good for adults--lacks the capability that other digital cameras have--uses batteries instead of recharger which can be advantage with children, but not adults
Excerpt: I received this camera as a Christmas gift. I had been looking at the Nikon Coolpix s4000. Let's just say that I ended up buying the Nikon after trying to use this camera at my daughter's first gymnastic's practice. I am a professional photographer and would never use this camera. I wanted a point and shoot camera that I could keep in my purse and take wherever I went. I tried taking pictures of her at this practice and they all came out grainy.
Excerpt: The Fujifilm Finepix A170 10.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD is a very nice little camera for the money. I was looking for a camera that I, a techie-never-wanna-be, could figure out and use without having to read a giant user's manual or watch a 2 hour instruction CD, so this camera is perfect for me. It has a 10 megapixel and 3 times optical zoom, as well as a panorama mode. It makes the pictures i take look very professional.
Excerpt: This camera was really inexpensive at Shopko. I really liked it at first, but the more I use it, the more I think I should have bought a better camera. I bought the camera and about two weeks later, the light sensor stopped working and so my pictures were either too dark or too bright. I had to call fujifilm and ship the camera across the country to get them to repair it.
Summary: I bought this because it rated well on the web. I really like it because it is very easy to use, has a nice sized LCD view screen, and takes decent pictures. It's only fault is the picture is about a 3.2 Meg file. I was expecting bigger. I just got it, so I may have to make a setting change I don't know about yet. The only other minus is it isn't rechargeable like my other camera. You have to buy rechargable batteries and charge them yourself.
Excerpt: This little wonder cost me AU$99 in a KMart store in Sydney. For the money it represents remarkable value. It appears quite well built, is easy to hold and easy to use. The user can control ISO, exposure compensation, macro, flash, timer, 3x zoom, movie mode, display options and quality level ( jpg only). Focus time is average for a compact with no lag time if prefocussed. All the several hundred pix I have made thus far are correctly focussed and exposed.
