The Casio Exilim EX-Z600 is widely noted as an ultracompact model with a remarkably large LCD of 2.7 inches. It lacks an optical viewfinder and so, images shot in sunlight are perfectly visible through the bright LCD. Macworld says that while their informal test shots looked decent, the images weren’t too impressive when it came to sharpness and color accuracy. Also, there are other point-and-shoot cameras which score better in exposure accuracy tests. The controls tend to be messy sometimes but novel features like the new ebay mode and built-in keystone correction compensate for this. One place where this camera should be highlighted though is battery life. It can handle a maximum of 500 shots.

Reviewers at Photography Review agree with Macworld about the positive side of the model, but are terribly disappointed with drawbacks such as the poor instruction manual and the noise at higher ISO speeds. They feel that this is a simple and stylish model which should suit those looking for a simple point-and-shoot camera, but more professional users who prefer higher image quality might want to look elsewhere. Critics at Digital Camera Review, however, seem to be quite impressed with this model and strongly recommend it. While not completely ignoring the drawbacks, they say that it performed quite well in test shots. The camera did disappoint while trying to shoot indoors, but this is compensated by good rendition when the ISO level is kept below 100. Overall, they feel that it is a perfect fit for those who just want an easy-to-use auto-only digital camera.

  • suggest replacement for casio ex-z600

I lost my casio ex-z600. What would you suggest as a good replacement. I don't know much about cameras. I use cameras for vacation and family pictures. I do like to take pictures of vacation scenery and not just people.
