Summary: The Canon PowerShot TX-1 is an extremely versatile compact still and video camera. I was initially looking for a compact unit that combined good quality imagery with a cool looking package on a budget. What I got did not disappoint. First, let me tell you what this isn't. This little machine is not made to meet the rigorous demands of even semi-professional photographers and videographers. This unit is made for FUN!
Summary: Great lenses and works great with the Stereo Data Maker (SDM) 3D system - just download the program onto your SD card(s), insert the card(s) in the camera(s)and you can take perfectly synched 3D stills and movies - the program on your card does all the work and all you need is a switch which you can make for a few dollars or purchase (see SDM on google)- only works with certain Canon cameras.
Summary: The ideal vacation camera. It is one of the first SDLR cams that truly shoots HD as well as taking pics. The small size however does not allow for a lot of panning etc. as any movement is immediately picked up and might make spectators dizzy later. So a small monopod or tripod are a must. I only shot video so cannot say anything about the pics. The fact that it is metal (aluminum) adds to its appeal as far as I'm concerned, and it is the size of a pack of playing cards.
Pros: 16 gb card full hd about 50 minute and now cards are about 36 bucks each, just check for compatability online, the A-Data 16GB sticks work flawlessly.
Cons: the mjpeg format, you need a large hard drive to save and trnsfer these files blueray disk burners now around 212 dollars for a lg but disk still run 15 buck each, burning them to regular dvd does a very nice job using nero.
Summary: For the price and size this camera really can't be beat. The still camera images are crystal clear and the 720p video is great for the price. Add on top of that that the camera is small enough to fit in your pocket and you whave a winning combination. I take this camera with me everywhere and use it all the time, and if was any larger I probably wouldn't... but it is perfect for the on the go amatuer.
Summary: I use this camera everywhere! I video recorded my sons school play, plus took lots of pictures of the event. I have taken inside and outside shots, action shots, and lots of zooming. Overall I am very pleased! It is compact enough to fit in my pocket, but the screen is a nice size. Only warning is that you will have to buy a card(or two) because the one that comes with the camera only hold about of minute of video.
Pros: Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls, Easy to Keep Clean
