and memory card are good. bundle stuff is junk
6 October 2014
Summary: Camera, battery, and memory card are good. bundle stuff is junk. tripods could not hold their own weight. card reader failed after second use. bag cannot hold half of the items sent with this camera. bag has poor stitching and no storage compartments. Edited after a couple months use on 10/28: So far about 5 hours video and thousands of pictures taken. Memory card is blazing fast on transfer. Camera has a few shortcomings.
Conclusion: Was excited to get a camera with many desired features at a good price, however, a few things stand out as negative: 1) no user manual. If Canon would like to claim that this is good for the environment, ask how I feel printing out something like 180++ pages on my printer. I would pay $5 more to have a small manual to carry, not a stack of 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper. Ridiculous.
Summary: Bought this camera because I needed a megazoom for a specific event. First off, the camera works well and takes better pictures than it probably should. I'm a novice photographer and needed a decent point and shoot to take great pictures. It delivers and my photos are great quality, indoor and outdoor. For those who like more control, the camera also has manual controls. One tiny drawback is that the controls aren't as "intuitive" as my other digital cameras.
Summary: I have been using Canon for the last 15 years. I am now quite familiar with the Canon ELPH series. I was looking for a rather smaller camera to carry around with good telephoto lens. Carrying around my DSLR does take a toll when you are walking about. Especially if you carry a few lenses with you and other equipment. For its ability to take pictures, I believe this camera do deserve at least a 4 star (probably even 5). Low light situation pictures are better.
Summary: I bought this to replace my old kodak camera to take pictures of my artwork but the quality is much worse. The kodak pictures are sharp and clear while the Canon pictures are slightly blurry. I'm very disappointed with this camera. Now I have a camera with such poor quality that I am stuck using the old one. Also I drew an elk with pastel and with the canon the fur looks green while the kodak color is true to the drawing.
Conclusion: This is a good piece of equipment that fut fill the minimum expectations. Quality wise, it is what is expected in a CANON product. It does not have any new features. It is all the same as standard cameras. Canon tried to put the body of their EOS types in this small one, but it fells very weird in my hands. Wi-Fi, is not working properly, or better.. at all.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, flash is not automatic, price/features ratio is too high
CANON POWERSHOT SX510 - POOR QUALITY BUT GOOD FEATURES

Summary: I wanted to like this camera but unfortunately I have to look beyond my favorite CANON powershot line for my next point and shoot camera. I ordered this camera and was so excited to replace my recently deceased 4MP CANON powershot that has amazingly lasted over a decade of service. The first week I convinced myself the SX510 HS was great, it takes beautiful well balanced and colorful photos OUT of automatic and scene selection modes (BUT changing manual settings must be...
