  • Summary: The camera takes great pictures, even in auto mode. It's surprisingly not as easy to use in the other more advanced modes as a DSLR.

Canon PowerShot SX50 is amazing!

Susan's In The Garden, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I do a lot of traveling and have been wanting a good quality camera that takes decent close-ups and distance shots, yet one that doesn't weigh as much as my DSLR. A friend who has this camera loaned his to me to trial during a trip to Yellowstone. I could not believe the shots I got with the zoom! Amazing. As soon as I got home from my trip, I purchased my own PowerShot SX50 and am using it on a daily basis as I do a lot of garden photography. Just love it!
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Many Useful Features, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Button Location On Back

  • Summary: I like most things on the camera. I don't like that the buttons are where I put my fingers. Also, wish the time lapse between pictures were faster.

  • Summary: I bought this camera for birding. My other camera is a Nikon with a 500mm Sigma lens. It was too heavy for long hikes, so I wanted something smaller.
  • Pros: zoom is great

So far, so good

Rhianna, B&H Photo
25 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I just got my camera about a week ago, so I am not totally confident with it yet, but so far I love it. It came with a 32 gb SD card, and was far cheaper than other stores with the same camera. My only issue would be that it did not come with a USB cable. I called Canon and it turns out that more and more cameras are not coming with USB cords because people are just expected to use the SD card readers on their computers.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Nice Body Color

Optical Zoom on SX50 HS is Amazing

Diver Janet, B&H Photo
25 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I'm using this supplementally to my DSLR...hoping for some great close-up opportunities with the amazing optical zoom. Shutter lag and slow focus is still an issue with the point and shoots but overall I'm impressed with the size of the camera, the image quality and the reason that I purchased it, the optical zoom.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Image Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Nice Body Color, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Lag / Shutter Delay, Poor Flash
