Excerpt: For the price it is the worst camera I have ever had. I had the canon M which is a nice little camera great camera.I have had a Paniasoic FZ200. First off the Flash is manual even in auto. you have to pull it up your self.
Summary: The Canon Powershot SX50 is a great camera, but I suggest buying it straight from Amazon, without the $14 Focus package. Skip the $14 of extra stuff from Focus. I kept the little tripod and threw away the other Focus junk.
Conclusion: Purchased camera for a bird watching trip to Costa Rica. One week into trip camera stopped working. Others on trip with same camera had similar problems. This was an expensive trip in which I had no camera for most of it. Fortunately the retailer I purchased it from gave me a full refund.
Conclusion: I use a camera in my profession, I previous had a Cannon PS5SX which was a good camera too good clear pictures with great color balance easy to use software, and hence my next camara was a ”cannon” also SX50HS, my first disappointment was the software it used the same easy to use software as...
Cons: Poor image quality, Difficult to use, Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu, software very poor
GREAT CAMERA UNTIL IT GOES BAD AND YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Summary: I loved this little camera. Great features and photos. In first couple weeks had a problem--the screen regularly froze and camera turned off. Fortunately Amazon as always was great and I returned for another. After 6 months the zoom started wobbling. Sent it to Canon for repair.
Conclusion: When getting a good grip on the camera to take serious shots, fast action etc., the fleshy bottom part of one's thumb rests smack dab on one of the controls and turns them on inadvertently. This is seriously not good.
Summary: I bought this camera with all expectations only to find that CANNON can do such a bad job on a product release. First the creaky noise , even when you move the camera, take picture, xoom or even when you take picture in dark. The lens makes a lot of noise in Auto & manual settings.
