Great camera, but enough flaws to preclude "excellent"

Summary: I read many reviews before purchasing this camera, so I was already aware of most of its limitations. However, there are some things that really need to be experienced firsthand to understand fully. This camera is a bridge camera, and I bought it to bridge the gap between my pocket cameras (sx130is) and my dslr (rebel xs). In that regard it is a bittersweet compromise across the board.
Summary: The Canon SX40 HS takes clear and well focused pictures. I bought the camera a few months ago as an upgrade from a 15+ year old camera which worked well but did not have an anti-shake feature. My old camera was taking blurry photos because I now shake when using a camera, and even a small shake can blur the picture. For me, this was an expensive camera. On top of the anti-shake feature, I also liked the built in power of the telephoto lens. All these features work well.
Summary: The camera looked nice. I tried it but it simply did not do what I wanted so I have returned it to the selling company. They have received it as of April 29, and I'm waiting for them to process the return. As soon as this happens, I'll be ordering a different camera. I wanted more action shots for dogs. The camera would be wonderful for scenery, etc.
Summary: Bought this because I needed a compact super-zoom camera. Well, the first surprise was the size. It was a bit larger than I expected. In fact, it's only slightly smaller than a regular Canon DSLR, so if you're buying this to lug around all day instead of a bulky heavy DSLR, you're going to practically carry around the same sized camera (minus a gigantic 800mm zoom lens, so you do shave off some significant lens bulk).
Great zoom range, nice image quality, designed for dummies

Summary: I bought this camera a month ago and I've passed the 2000 picture mark, so I guess I'll jump in and provide a review. I upgraded from the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS to this one and I've been thrilled with some of the new features and less than thrilled with others. The quick verdict: This is a great camera for anyone who wants lots of features and versatility but doesn't want to use manual settings and doesn't travel a lot.
Summary: Excellent camera, abysmal instruction book. On line insruction books are a pain, they are never available when you really need them ie when you are out and about. You can't a PC about with you & printing yourself costs a fortune & you end up with a massive. The least the manufacturer could do would be to offer a printed book at extra cost!
Summary: Buonissimo prodotto per materiali e qualità.

Summary: Ich habe beide Bridgekameras getestet.
