Canon PowerShot SX30 IS

jannadem, epinions.com

  • Summary: No force Flash in Auto is unacceptable. I wish somebody could change it. It looks and feel good, but the picture quality is worse that from my cheaper Xacti cameras.
  • Pros: Loaded with features. Front facing (flip-flop) LCD viewer for self portrait. Excellent macro.
  • Cons: Cannot force flash in Auto mode. 35x zoom is disappointment. Poor white color

Don't believe the hype. It's NOT a 35x zoom.

  • Summary: Bought this camera and sold it again within 3 months. My father has a Panasonic Lumix bridge camera with a 24x zoom and the two are nearly identical with the Canon a fraction bigger, certainly not another 11x better. I have always bought Canon camera's as they are reliable and take great photos. This was no exception but i mainly bought it for the 35x zoom which is advertised as the biggest on the market at the time.

No, buy the SX40

Seriously "Dave", Amazon

  • Summary: The optics on the SX30 are superb, but the combination of sensor and processor give awful results depressingly frequently. I strongly recommend spending a little more to buy the SX40. I owned the SX30 briefly, giving it back to John Lewis because the pictures were so bad, and bought the SX40 for Amazon because they had the best price. The SX40 produces superb pictures. It has a slightly lower pixel count than the SX30, but the pixels you get on the SX30 are often awful.

a backward step

  • Summary: I upgraded a previous Canon super-zoom to the SX1-is. The previous camera had great auto-focus but not my SX1-is. Therefore top of my features list (just ahead of AA batteries) for a replacement camera is convenient manual focus control. The SX30-is relies on the very fiddly control wheel which during manual focus is difficult to avoid pressing (and inadvertantly selecting ISO).

Not as good as it appears!

  • Summary: I took the Canon SX30 Camera along on our 20th Wedding Anniversary's Holiday to Berlin. The Zoom was great, we could capture the details of the figures on the Berlin's Dome with ease and the camera performed very well for all still pictures; and to be honest, people admired it. However, when we got to the Berlin Zoo, the faults of this camera became obvious. It was impossible to get a picture of a pacing Tiger because the auto focus was too slow.

Canon PowerShot SX30 IS

Badziewie, Ceneo
27 July 2011
