How I would love to give this camera a higher rating
12 October 2014
Summary: How I would love to give this camera a higher rating. The photos are really fantastic. BUT the low battery indicator that shuts the camera off randomly completely ruins this camera's reliability (you can't take great pictures if the camera has no power). The firmware update did nothing to fix this problem and the issue gets worse and worse for me. Taking video (videos look GREAT) will almost always shut the camera off...other times I can record as long as I want.
Summary: I was super excited to get this camera as it has a fantastic zoom lens and Canon performance. These things lived up to my expectations. Unfortunately, several things about this camera take a lot of the fun out of using it. First, there is a persistent bug with zooming during shooting video. The camera tends to shut down if you do so and when you turn the camera back on it insists that it's out of battery.
Major problem: power button where shutter release should be.

Summary: Ergonomically poor design. I frequently turned the camera off when trying to push the shutter release. Very frustrating, especially when you want to take a "quick grab" photo. Hard to grip. Flash pops up where I would normally put my left index finger.
Summary: Takes great still pictures. really like the wide angle lens. Wish it was more reliable Battery drains almost instantly when trying to take videos. Camera give an error message and shuts itself off if left on more then 30 seconds. Amazon won't return or replace it.
Summary: I bought this camera less than 5 months ago, along with the squaretrade warranty.lately, it keeps telling me that my battery needs charging, even when I know it is fully charged. I have to open the battery door and play with it, then it starts working again. A few pictures later...the camera again tells me the battery needs charging again. I open the battery door, play with it, and it starts working again. this happens every few pictures.
Great travel zoom camera (if you don't need to take videos)

Summary: This camera is great. We decided to replace on older, very inexpensive, point and shoot so that we could better capture pictures and videos of our kids as they grow. Our older camera could never capture the frantic movements of our kids in focus. The images you can capture with this camera are amazing. The clarity, contrast, and depth of colour have been a serious step up from our last camera, but a fatal flaw makes this camera useless to me.
Great in add-on features but bad in the areas where it matters most

Summary: I like the picture quality, the Wi-Fi feature, the video quality, the flash etc etc...But what's the use when the battery system is so bad that it doesn't allow you take any videos at all. I am having the same problem as the others have mentioned in this forum already. Having this camera is like owning a fully loaded car which asks to refill the gas for every mile.
Summary: I have had this only a week and I am returning it and replacing it with a Canon SX260 HS. I took the camera to Disney and went through 3 batteries and could only get 15 minutes max of video time on a fresh battery. Still images were not a problem. According to the Canon website if the camera has the sixth digit of 3 or higher in the serial number, the camera should not have the battery issue. I did the Firmware update prior to using the camera.
Summary: This camera had trouble with focusing. It was on the highest pixels and still was putting out a small, poor quality pictures. I usually love cannon but not this camera. It may have been a defective one. The reviews were all so great....I was hoping I would feel the same way.
