Great camera for the price!

Summary: I admit I'm no camera expert, though I have owned 5 or 6 digital cameras and this is the best so far. It also takes better HD movies that the dedicated camcorder we bought, and the picture quality is good enough to be blown into poster-size.
Summary: Way more complicated than my last camera and with many functions that will never see the light of day. It's also heavier than my last camera. However the zoom and ultra close up is what I bought it for and it mostly delivers in both areas although can be tempramental.
Summary: Couple hundred pictures and few videos later, i like this camera in small sensor, affordable camera class: Likes: - Good color accuracy in daylight - Sharp images - Effective image stabilization, no need to use flash indoors, if object is stationary.
Summary: Found that this camera exceeded my expectations. Tried the video mode and didn't notice any noise in playback. Being left handed the pop up flash took a bit of getting used to. Despite this the camera is certainly worth a recommendation.
Summary: Have had this approx. two weeks now and have taken it on holiday where I had a chance to get to know and use it in depth. I am an amateur photographer used to full and cropped frame SLR cameras, but wanted something a little smaller and lighter for such occasions as holidays etc.
Summary: I bought this camera to replace a Samsung that I used for digi-scoping (taking wildlife photographs through a spotting scope). This camera is not suitable as the front element of the lens is too far recessed. The build quality is very good and it takes superb pictures.
Summary: Nice camera and with a good specification. After using it for a while now I would have liked the battery life to be better so get a spare if you buy this camera. I use it 1/3 of stop under exposed as it tends to burn out the highlights when used in the normal mode.
Summary: This is the fourth generation of Canon that I've had and the best overall. The purpose of a camera is to take a permanent record of a scene/subject as realistically and accurately as possible. On this score it is very difficult to fault.
Summary: The Canon Powershot SX240sx is not a camera for beginners. It takes quite a bit of getting used to. However it comes preloaded with over 200 pages of instructions which can be downloaded to your PC which is a great help. It has a weighty well made feel about it.
