Canon Powershot SX210 Digital Camera Review

Buy-n-Shoot.com
28 September 2012
  • Conclusion: For its market, the PowerShot SX210 IS does a good job of meeting what most people want from their super-zoom compacts. It produces consistent images in its automatic setting and the results straight out of camera should look pleasing in a 6x4 print. The disappointment lays in the level of improvement Canon have made since its predecessor, the SX200 IS.

CNET

  • Summary: If you want a compact megazoom with manual controls and fine photo quality, the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is a good place to start.
  • Pros: Nice selection of semimanual and manual controls; flexible lens in a compact body; very good photo quality.
  • Cons: Slow shooting performance; some awkward design aspects; unimpressive LCD.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

PC Magazine
12 October 2010
  • Conclusion: The Canon PowerShot SX210 is a no-nonsense camera that packs a long 14x optical-zoom lens into a small body. But this camera doesn't excel in low light, and images show some color fringing.
  • Pros: Sharp images. 14x optical zoom. 3-inch LCD is easily viewable in direct sunlight, and shows virtually no motion blur. Well-designed interface. Mini-HDMI port. Stereo audio recording in video mode.
  • Cons: Images show noticeable color fringing. Not suited for low light shooting without a flash. LCD's 16:9 aspect ratio means black bars around 4:3 images.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS Review

Digital Camera Review
29 June 2010
  • Summary: There are plenty of reasons to justify spending an extra $20 on the PowerShot SX210 over the SX200. If you're shooting in great conditions, you won't have a problem snapping clean shots at the top end of the camera's generous 14x zoom range. The camera boasts eye-catching style, and build quality is as good as anything in its class.
  • Pros: Good quality images, HD video allows zoom, Versatile lens
  • Cons: Overexposure, Enlarged image shows noise at ISO 400

Dc Resource
23 April 2010
  • Excerpt: The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS ($349) is a fairly compact camera that packs a 14X optical zoom lens, optical image stabilization, a widescreen LCD display, both point-and-shoot and manual controls, and HD movie recording. It's the follow-up to the PowerShot SX200, a camera I wasn't particularly fond of .

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

Camera Labs
1 April 2010
  • Summary: Another classic Canon strategy is, for better or worse, to trump the competition in the numbers game. So it's not surprising to find the PowerShot SX210 IS sporting the longest zoom range and joint highest resolution of its peer group with 14 Megapixels and a 14x optical zoom. Canon knows these are the numbers many people look at first when comparing cameras online or on the shelf, and doesn't want to lose sales by coming-up short.
  • Pros: 14x optical zoom: longest range of rival models., 14 Megapixels: joint highest resolution of peers., 720p HD movies with matching 16:9 screen., Great auto modes or full manual if you prefer.
  • Cons: Flash always pops-up even when disabled., Slow continuous shooting at full resolution., Zoom motor is audible when filming video., Widescreen monitor not ideal shape for 4:3 stills.

  • Conclusion: We can't find much to complain about this camera when it comes to image quality, and build quality, as you might reasonably expect from a camera costing the better part of £350. It's superb.

Canon Powershot SX210 IS

Cameras
8 August 2014
  • Excerpt: The Canon Powershot SX210 IS offers extra zoom power in a compact body. This camera has 14 megapixels and a 14x zoom lens. The lens has wide angle capabilities too. I would say the Powershot SX210 IS is aimed at someone who is looking at a clear step up from a standard point and shoot digital camera. As well as having extra zoom you also have access to manual controls allowing you to fine tune shutter speed, aperture size and focusing.
  • Pros: Picture quality - Features - High Definition movies - LCD Screen - Handy Size
  • Cons: Shutter delay with flash - purple fringing
