  • Excerpt: This  camera has a fabulous zoom lens for the price. i can capture the trees on the mountain behind my house! This camera Uses AA batteries, so youll never have to run and find and outlet to charge your battery just put in four doubble a's! the camera has a swiveling LCD screen too. which is Very useful in taking pictures with you in them without using a tripod... also when you are in crownds its easy to hold above your head to get the picture you want!.

Great picture and video

  • Excerpt: This camera delivers fanatastic picture quality, both indooors and out. There are a lot of manual settings for fine adjustments for those who really like to play with their toys. It is designed to actually make it difficult to put your finger over the pop-up flash, which is a nice touch. (Some of these modern cameras are the size of cracker jack toys, but this one actually feels like a camera.

Decent but the zoom is nice.

  • Excerpt: I've had this camera for a couple of years now and it's not all I had hoped it would be. I have to say though, I'm a professional photographer. I needed a small camera I could take with me for personal stuff. It's just not practical to lug around a large SLR for everyday use. What attracted me most was the zoom and 12.1 megapixel. Any camera is only as good as the user.

  • Summary: Great camera for the price, not as costly as an SLR, but for the price difference the quality is not that bad. Features are good for different types of shot and the zoom is really good.

"Excellent camera, but treat it with care!"

brackendale, CNET

  • Pros: Our family snaps are a huge step up from the Cybershot (obviously) but the video, image stabilizer and optical zoom is really great. I have used it for night time sports events and with the zoom have produced great shots that I use in sales briefs.
  • Cons: Like I said, the lens is delicate. I agree with other reviews that the flash is inconveniently placed. But hats all. No software problems.

Navajo, DP Review

  • Excerpt: This camera has been my first canon. Previously I used sony and Fuji cameras. My selection has always been SLR like category. This has been first time to use such a compact camera but definitely I must confess its performance and photo quality is more than my Fuji 9600. Night shots are very successful. You can trust the automatic settings. It knows what to do. But on the other hand if you want to use some manual adjustment it also allows you to do that.

Capable Canon

  • Summary: I saved this review until I had used the camera for a few months and few trips. I agree with others that the flash which pops up on the left side when the camera is turned on, can be annoying. However, the camera, with its many assets, outweighs that feature. I'm still learning about setting it on the program mode and experimenting rather than automatic to take photos. The explanation booklet enclosed does help with directions.
