I find it overexposes each photo

Thomas Edison, Amazon
11 February 2014
  • Summary: Some people at DPReviews tell me it's user error, and maybe it is. But I find this camera overexposes every shot on "auto" mode. So I use manual and crank the exposure down. That sort of works, but isn't ideal. When new this was a $350 camera so for that price I was pretty disappointed with the image quality.

GREAT CAMERA for 15 months then LENS ERROR

Quinn, Amazon
22 February 2012
  • Summary: I have to say, I enjoyed this camera when it worked great for 15 months. Then out of nowhere, I received the Lens Error. I had to repaired, but even when it was repaired, it was not the same afterwards. This camera shot great photos, videos, and is a little clunky to carry around. You won't be putting it comfortably in your pants pocket anytime soon, but it takes great photos. However, the lens error part was heartbreaking. Really came out of nowhere!

  • Summary: The Canon sx200is is a good camera but the pop flash is in the wrong place, It is always were we would hold the camera, when you turn it on your fingers will be in the way for it to open, it is a poor design . Canon needs to fix this problem, I have had mine for a month and it already is not working the way it should, sometimes when I turn off ther camera the flash does not go down so I have to push it. Not sure if I will return it or not.

Mixed Bag: Not for beginning point and shoot users

Jonathan High, Amazon
26 April 2010
  • Summary: UPDATE A lot of people are comparing this to the Panasonic DMC-ZS3; I just bought one so I have both. After spending some time with each I've come to the conclusion that, despite the similarities, they are different camera for different audiences. Here's where each excels: PANASONIC * For a very powerful point-and-click / don't think about it camera, it can't be beat. The Intelligent Auto almost always takes great pictures under almost all conditions.

NOT A POINT & SHOT CAMERA

J. Baez, Amazon
28 August 2009
  • Summary: It just doesn't take such hot pictures. My Canon PowerShot A610 took much better pictures. I'm more of a point & shot person so maybe it's me. But if you're like me a point & shot person don't buy this camera.

Canon PowerShot SX200IS

GinaAmara "ginaamara", Amazon
22 August 2009
  • Summary: After researching this camera and reading rave reviews, I replaced my point and shoot with this model. This camera makes beautiful crisp outdoor pics. But like any point and shoot, indoors, if the subject is too far away for the flash to reach(approx 15ft), not going to get the shot. I was however able to make some beautiful video of my child's recital from the back of the room, great zoom for video. Sound quality great.

  • Summary: Tried to be too much of everything but needs RAW mode or a better sensor to make it all work. Better to have fewer pixels with higher fidelity.
  • Pros: Portability Manual mode Large screen IS Long reach lens Logical Controls Startup time, shutter lag ok
  • Cons: Picture quality no RAW Flash always pops up Slow Focus flimsy USB door
