Summary: I owned this three months. I hit the ON button by accident while it was in its case. The zoom lens popped open then shut now it WONT open at all. I contacted Canon and they wanted $175 to fix it. The gears inside he lens are CHEAPLY made. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.
Summary: Typically I would never have spent this much money on a camera but one of my favorite things to do is take pictures so I thought I would splurge and treat myself. This was not without plenty of research beforehand with the hopes of finding the perfect camera. I saw the great reviews for this camera on amazon so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Boy was I wrong...
Summary: Worked great for fourteen months and then the lens would not retract and it gives me the len's error code. I just sent it off for repair and am not happy to have to spend the money to fix it. Canon should have to recall this!!!! Someone should start a class action. This will be my last Canon product.
Summary: I purchased this camera about 2 years ago. At first it was great, easy to use, good battery life, nice size, good pics, etc. After about 6 months while on vacation I went to turn it on and I got a "lens error" warning and the camera wouldn't power up. I was disappointed because I didn't get to take any picture of the trip but I knew it was under warrantee and would be fixed, which it was after paying for shipping etc to the cannon repair facility.
Summary: First have to start by saying the camera has experienced a known flaw in Canon software "lens error, restart camera" where the lens is in the open position and stays that way. At this point the camera is useless and becomes scrap. Unfortunately I have found out too late to avoid this purchase but certainly will avoid Canon products in the future. There are many claims and comments online having this same problem across multiple models of Canon products.
Summary: I bought this camera a year ago and loved it, but as the lens was opening the other day I got an error message saying "Lens error, restart camera". After some internet research it looks like this is a common problem that Canon knows about, but won't aknowledge. Looks like I am going to have to buy another $300 camera, but it won't be a Canon.
Summary: These cameras have a design flaw in the lens. After some period of time, you will get a "Lens Error" and the camera will be dead. Mine lasted just under 90 days. Now I'm in warranty hell. I send it in, they pull a beat-up camera off the shelf and send it, and it lasts for a few weeks or months. Repeat until the warranty expires. Given that Canon knows about the problem and won't make it right, I will be avoiding all Canon products in the future.
Summary: After only 5 months my this camera has quit working for me. I'm getting the now infamous "Lens Error, Restart Camera" message and apparently there is nothing Canon will do about it. I checked online to see if I might be able to fix the problem myself but all I found were other disgruntled buyers with the same issue. Very sad indeed. Anyway, just thought I would share this with everyone who was thinking of buying this camera.
