Lens Error, Restart Camera
A. Cantu, Amazon
4 March 2010
Summary: After only 5 months my this camera has quit working for me. I'm getting the now infamous "Lens Error, Restart Camera" message and apparently there is nothing Canon will do about it. I checked online to see if I might be able to fix the problem myself but all I found were other disgruntled buyers with the same issue. Very sad indeed. Anyway, just thought I would share this with everyone who was thinking of buying this camera.
Summary: Bought this camaera for my wife for Christmas It has never worked right. Cammera freezes in the open position and will not turn off until I removed the battery. Then we must recharge the battery and it will do it again after just a few pictures are taken. Never should have bought it .
Summary: I bought this camera December 15 2009. January 21, 2010 the automatic lens cover malfuntioned. Cannon will not cover under warranty- Wants $ 160 for repair. Says it was broken due to "mishandling". It was kept in a padded case, never dropped. It failed due to faulty workmanship or design. I have had good cannon products in the past. This is not one of them. I am also surprised at their response.
Summary: BEWARE of the Powershot SX200!!! I bought one and it got a lens error 28 days after purchase. Returned it and got another one. It got a lens error 65 days after purchase. And now they want me to pay $130 to fix it. Plus I had to spend hours to find out what was wrong with my camera, pay shipping because it was still under warranty only then to find out that they wanted to charge. No phone call. No email. Nothing. I had to track them down.
Summary: I don't really like this product! I find that is not comfortable the pop up flash. The lens retraction is really TOO slow the same as the shooter (easy to lost THE moments). The auto setting MANY times fails (really bad), you can't trust on it to take a good picture... Is better to use manual settings. The light capture is deficient the most of the times (it's a shame, maybe the worst). It was a big deception for me.
Summary: Had the camera for about six months now. Very happy at this point that I bought an extended warranty. Anyway, I'm not sure if its a problem with just my camera, but from day one I have had problems with the camera not focusing correctly. If anything is in motion at all the picture is blurry. Even staged portraits often come out blurry. I love the zoom ability of the camera, but couple it with the focus problems and it is darn near useless.
Summary: This was the fourth Canon PowerShot I have bought for my wife. I have had one four years ago that took a five foot fall onto pavement and other then a small scratch it worked fine. We have had the SX200IS for less then three months, never had an accident with it, kept it very clean, treated it like a baby. It just froze with the lens extended and said lense error on the screen and restart. It could not be restarted with even the battery removed and replaced.
