An upgrade from my A520
Conclusion: I won't duplicate the positive reviews of previous users but I agree with them all...this is a great digicam. I bought this model (the black one) when I saw the SX170 DID NOT use AA size batteries. I like the convenience of AA batteries. I thought my A520 would be a lifetime use purchase when a certain digital goddess (KK) once said 4MP was as much as most anyone would ever need. Well, that certainly proved to be shortsighted.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Conclusion: My wife and I went from "wasacanonfan" to lifelongcanonfans" because of the excellent customer service Canon has given to us. This is our third sx160 camera. We also have Canon a3100, a4000 and sx40 cameras. Our sx160 cameras are the "in between" cameras in terms of size and zoom potential that we carry when we want more zoom than the a3100 or a4000 can give us but want to carry something smaller than our sx40.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, we had a lens error problem with our first sx160, canon replaced our lens error sx160
Summary: First, let me tell you I love this camera. I love it and am very unhappy that I'm sending it back to Amazon. I was looking for a light, simple automatic p&s that I could stick in my pocket and take with me into the field where I record evidence of animal activity and migration. The camera I need has to have AA batteries for power - there are no rechargers in the field and a $35 spare battery is no fun for me - it's easier to pack a couple of spare AAs in my pocket.
Summary: My very expensive Canon SLR has broken twice since I purchased it - the first time the repairs cost me over $200 and I wasn't willing to invest that much in repairing it again. So hubby did a whole bunch of research on what is the best, affordable point and click camera out there and came up with this. I LOVE IT. Very easy to use and the great part it has lots of the great features that I had based my purchase of the SLR on. I'm very pleased with this product!
Summary: We have now had this camera for over a year, and we're very pleased with the product. We wanted a camera to take with us while hiking that was powerful enough to capture excellent images but not so huge that it required its own bag. This has certain fulfilled our needs. If I remember correctly, several reviewers complained about the battery life. That has not been an issue for us.
Summary: I bought this for my wife to replace her first Canon camera from 2003. She loves this camera and uses it far more than her last camera. She is not technically savvy, but uses this camera with ease.
this is a really great camera....!!!! I would recommend it, to any one...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: this baby takes beautiful photos . delivery was fast and the price was right . it took me some time to get used to seting the picture up with the screen as it does not have a view finder . easy to use , even with all the functions .
Summary: easy to initial set up and now operate. Takes wonderful shots and I am even able to transfer my photos to my computer. I would not classify me as a pro by and standards but I am enjoying trying to learn and easy to try different settings and then pick the "best" from sunsets to full moon shots to some outstanding Fall mountain shots in PA Worlds End area.
Summary: This is the handiest inexpensive camera we have yet found! My wife loves the fact that it is 16.0 MP and the photos are amazingly sharp. We are both happy that it has many of the capabilities of the more expensive SLRs on the market. My wife is currently learning to use the changes in the aperture and speed settings to get the exact qualities she wants in her photos.
