Great Camera - Poor Quality

whistledow, Amazon
14 June 2011
  • Summary: Purchased in February, 2009. Love the zoom, ease of use, flexibility, AA batteries and pic quality. Not happy with quality of Canon cameras these days. This had a problem with a spot on the pics that Canon repaired under warranty in March, 2010. Had a problem with a color shift in April, 2011 that Canon will not repair under warranty and quote $100 to repair. Not worth it. Two years use is pretty bad when my earlier Canon cameras lasted 5+ years.

Great zoom, Image Stabil., a little slow

Mr. T, Amazon
26 March 2010
  • Summary: I searched for along time for this kind of camera. (in the $200 range) I was drawn by the 10x zoom and Optical Image Stabilization(IS). (both work great and are very nice to have!) After using it for a few weeks, I have had mixed results. Before you read on, understand that I also shoot with a canon xti, often with a $300 50mm lens on it, so I think my standards might be a little higher than the average user.

Canon PowerShot SX110 --- review and comments

kwok789, Ebay
26 May 2009
  • Summary: What I don't like about this camera (Canon SX110) is its power supply. Besides the battery covering lid is hard to use, the camera sucks power like a suburban sucks gas, faster than I realized. For this reason, I bought rechargeable batteries (AA size) and thought that I could save some money in powering up the camera. Unfortunately, it does no good. The rechargeable AA batteries nowadays are mostly of 1.2 volt d.c.

broken latch on battery compartment Canon SX100IS

Richard M. Beckman "guitarphile", Amazon
2 May 2009
  • Summary: Except for the latch on the battery compartment, we have been happy with the camera. My wife prefers the easy-to-hold size. She does not like tiny cameras. But we started having trouble with power on after changing batteries or switching SD cards. The problem was the white spring switch on the inside of the battery cover. When the battery compartment is properly closed the white switch is forced toward the SD card.

Overall I Am Not Impressed

L. Neuburger, Amazon
19 January 2009
  • Summary: I purchased this camera late-December, after experimenting with it for a few weeks here is my take: The pros: - Interface is well done, very easy to understand, learn, and use. - The 10x optical zoom works great, very nice feature for a camera of this size. - Has a decent start-up time, from off to ready to shot is roughly 1.5 to 2 seconds. The cons: - Very slow when taking pictures.

great pictures and videos

Tracy J. Rivadeneyra "tjr", Amazon
28 December 2008
  • Summary: This camera is very nice with its big LED screen, ease of use and image quality. However, it is a little heavy with its AA batteries. The batteries don't last long either- maybe for just an hour or two of total usage and the flash takes a considerable amount of time to recover for the next shot, which quickly becomes irritating. It has a nice macro feature, but I have found the auto focus to be a bit inconsistent.

A good camera but has its problems

Book Lover, Amazon
28 October 2010
  • Summary: Since buying this camera, it has had an intermittent fault. Sometimes it would work fine but at other times, the screen would remain black and the camera was impossible to use. I struggled on with it because I needed it for my job. I contacted Canon who said that this was a known fault. Even so, it would cost me more than the cost of the camera to have it fixed. For a while, it worked then it wouldn't work at all.

too big!

em, Amazon
10 July 2010
  • Summary: Don't get me wrong, its easy to use and everything works, but its so big in comparison to other cameras you can get today. I even had problems finding a case for it because they don't sell any in boots and jesops that are big enough. it doesn't fit well in a handbag and would never fit in a pocket like my old one used to. Its size makes it less convenient for travelling.

SX110, point click, marvel!

thejazzyj, Ciao
17 July 2009
  • Excerpt: I purchased this camera for use at school as I found a site offering it at what seemed to be a bargain price and boy have I been impressed. The camera rarely leaves my side now and it never fails to impress. I am a great lover of macro photography and the SX110 has shown itself to be an excellent choice for the close up image. The auto settings are excellent handling the majority of shot types with ease. The colour balance is great and it is quick to focus and shoot.
  • Pros: Great crisp pictures, Ease of use
  • Cons: Chews through batteries
