Great camera for picture lovers!

  • Excerpt: I loved taking pictures of friends and family so I was very excited when I received this camera as a birthday present last year. I have been so happy with it since day one. It is so easy to use and the touch screen is very slick. I especially love the different settings that allow me to take pictures that have one accent color. I also think it takes exceptional action shots. One really fun feature that I have enjoyed messing around with is the slow motion videos.

Canon PowerShot SD980IS is an excellent point-and-shoot

  • Excerpt: The Canon PowerShot SD980IS is an excellent point and shoot. I bought this camera off of Amazon.com refurbished for around $150, and and that price I feel it is a great value. Canon has implemented a touch screen on this camera that can be used for many function, but the camera retains mechanical buttons for those that prefer a real button to press. The major advantages of this camera include that high definition video of any length, and the VERY wide angle lens.

Excellent Picture Quality with a little bit of noise

  • Excerpt: The Canon SD980/ IS is an excellent point and shoot camera. At first glance of the manual touchscreen controlsappear slightly confusing. Just try it. Turns it was a lot easier than I expected. The Canon's picture quality is excellent with a little bit of noise. The noise is nothing a Canon printer cannot clean up for you. One downside is that when you are in Auto there is no way to force flash. You have to go to programmable mode to force flash.

Kodak vs. Canon

xoxodaddyo, Ebay
1 October 2010
  • Summary: I have used Kodak digital cameras for years and have been fairly satisfied. A friend had the Canon sd980 camera with the touch screen and was totally happy with it's functions. I was sold on it's pocket size and features that for the money was better than the Kodak camera I was using. The price was right and the learning curve took no time at all to learn. Having used it for a couple weeks, I feel it is a better camera over all than the Kodak Easy Share.

Canon SD980 / Ixus 200

k3g3c3, Ebay
20 August 2010
  • Summary: I was unsure of the touch screen, and in reality, could certainly live without it, except for one terrific feature which makes it worthwhile - you can touch the screen to indicate where you want the camera to focus - I love it! WIDE starting point - 24mm equivalent to 35mm format - this was the prime reason for purchase of the camera. Distortion level is more than acceptable at widest angle, and gets better from there.
