Summary: I had a nikon before this camera. I bought it because of low light performance. the camera seem to be slow when taking pictures, missing a few pictures that would have been great. the camera was pushed as the best of Canon, as well as for its performance in the dark.
Summary: If I had of wrote this review a couple of months ago, I probably would have given the camera 4 stars at least. Brilliant picture quality for point-and-shoot amateurs like me. Not overly impressed with the speed. The real problem is that the backlight on the LCD display has gone after about 18 months. I can still take pictures and use the camera as per usual, but it will be like the olden days when you have to wait until you get home to see your pictures.

Summary: This digital camera is beautiful to look at but looks can be deceiveing. There seem to be some vertical lines appearing from nowhere when you take shots with bright lights around, added to the fact that it cant really cope with fast consecutive shots and seems to get its knickers in a twist. I was really expecting more from a camera of this calibre and brand but have been sadly dissapointed. The lens jams too which is design fault i am told!
Summary: Bought the 960 to replace my excellent Ixus 400, a camera that had been excellent over 3 years of use. The 960IS appears to be the ideal replacement, more pixels, great features and a 40m waterproof housing available. The image quality is acceptable, not DSLR standards, but great for a compact digital. The 640x480 video is outstanding, superb detail and high frame rate, great for home DVDs. BUT..... There are a couple of things that are not good.
Summary: For the price you pay for this you can get a 8mp dslr with a bigger zoom and much better picture quality- trying to cram a whole 12mp in such a small camera will only cause very high picture noise your better off purchasing the 950 is or even the 850 is which has a wider lens or even the powershot s5
