Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Review
Reviewer: Digital Camera Review09 March 2008The SD950 IS offers an interesting mix of features that at times seem at odds with each other – a wonderfully compact and lightweight camera wielding a big 12.1 MP sensor matched with a somewhat pedestrian 36-133mm focal length lens with image stabilization, but no manual controls. Truth be told, Canon has improved this camera over its predecessor by the addition of image stabilization, as well as a higher resolution sensor with comparable noise performance. The lens ... The PowerShot SD950 IS sits at the top of Canon's ELPH line of digital cameras. It will undoubtedly appeal to users looking for a high-megapixel point-and-shoot camera that allows for larger prints. But the higher density sensor in the SD950 comes at the expense of operational speed. Read more

Canon PowerShot SD950 IS / IXUS 960 IS Review
Reviewer: Photography Review21 January 2008Last summer, I reviewed the Canon SD850 IS and thought it was the best point-and-shoot digital camera I’d ever used. So when Canon announced the 12-megapixel PowerShot SD950 IS I was very interested. I was skeptical about the image quality of the 12-megapixel sensor, but interested, nonetheless. I haven’t had my own point-and-shoot for a while and since I loved the SD850 IS I just went ahead and bought the SD950 IS. Read more

Featuring a 12.1 megapixel CCD, 3.7x optical zoom lens, and well-designed user interface, the PowerShot SD950 IS Digital ELPH has a compact body style that is well suited for travel. Exposure remains under automatic control, and its 11 pre-programmed Scene modes help with more tricky subjects. The Canon SD950 IS is a very responsive camera, with low shutter lag in daylight conditions, and excellent shot-to-shot speeds. It also sports very good battery life, a capable ... Read more

At the top of Canon's Digital Elph line, the $450 SD950 IS looks stylish and is a pleasure to use. Enclosed in a titanium shell, it should handle bumps and scrapes better than the average snapshot camera. At 3.75 inches wide and just over 1 inch thick, the unit is slightly too big to park comfortably in a shirt pocket--but it fits nicely in large hands, and it's easy to pack along on any outing. Loving it!
Reviewer: tammyj1963, Epinions05 June 2008- Overall 10

Bought this camera for my trip to Punta Cana and I must say I am very happy I did. I read the manual, or rather reviewed it on the plane ride and started snapping shots as soon as I was off the plane. The first few pictures were a little blurry but after trying other settings, the next ones were beautiful. I used the foliage setting and the garden pictures are beautiful. The zoom on this camera is excellent. I am still figuring out low light, indoor pictures, as alot ... Read more

Stunning Pictures - Just Push the Button
Reviewer: Digitalcamera HQ05 May 2008- Overall 10

Excellent pictures for such a small camera. The flash does a great job filling in dark backgrounds. I recently broke my wife's Canon A540 and replaced it with a Nikon S550 which doesn't measure up to the older A540. I have played around with the 950 and am very impressed with the camera. There is no way my wife can find fault with this little jewel. The only negative thing I can say, is the Manual leaves a lot to be desired, but then my wife has never read one anyway. Read more

Strong construction, and a lot of great features packed into a "Point and Shoot" camera. Great battery life. Took this on a recent vacation to Europe and was very pleased by it's versatility and size. The compactness of this camera enabled me carry it at all times so that a shot was not lost (no lugging around a lot of equipment). The 12.1 megapixels ensures a great print, as well. Read more

These PowerShot cameras are fantastic. I have purchased two for myself (I lost one), one for my wife, and one for my kids. I have a big Canon digital SLR with interchangable lenses, but I can't always bring that along. The PowerShots are perfect to carry with me everywhere I go. I am an obstetrician/gynecologist, and often let my patient's borrow the camera to photograph the delivery of their baby when they have forgotten to bring their own camera to the hospital. T...
