The Canon Powershot SD940 is a poor choice
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I purchased this camera and went on a trip to Hawaii. The camera worked great while there and I was very happy with the quality of my pictures. I retuned home and the next time I went to use my camera, the lens would not retract. The store would not allow me to return it as my 30 days had expired. I am now left with a camera I paid $169 that won't work.
Summary: We have no feedback on how this camera works. Took it out of the box on Christmas morning, charged it up and it does not work. The power light turns on but there is no camera function whatsoever. It's going back. Will try again with a replacement. So far not impressed. Very disappointing.
Excerpt: Disappointing handling and construction. I've been a Ixus 70 user so far and I very much appreciated its handling, which had been outstanding! Supposing the Ixus 120 still had the same advantages as far as handling is concerned, I must admit the Ixus 120 is pretty disappointing. Buttons are pretty hard to push (this is really disappointing for daily use) and after two weeks of use the zoom crank is blocked and needed to be repaired.
"Good design, good photos, lousy engineering choice"

Pros: It's a Canon (I own an EOS-20D. If feels very solid in the hand, yet also very light. USB and HDMI connection.
Cons: You cannot charge the battery by connecting a cable or by having a dock you can drop it in. Having to open the cover frequently to remove the battery risks damaging or breaking the cover over time, and losing your camera settings without the power.
