The Canon PowerShot SD890 IS Digital ELPH ($399) is the "big zoom" model in this popular series of ultra-compact cameras. It features a 5X optical zoom lens, with a focal range of 37 - 185 mm, which is considerably more than you'll find on most cameras in this class. Other features include a 10 Megapixel CCD, optical image stabilization, a 2.5" LCD display, and lots of point-and-shoot features. Read more

Although the SD890 has not hit the market with as large of a splash as its predecessor, the SD850, it does offer a far more impressive feature set, albeit with a larger price tag. Interestingly, rather than simply improving upon the highly successful SD850, Canon chose to redesign a great deal of the SD890. The result is impressive: a far more powerful device which, though it has some setbacks, exceeds expectations rather than meeting them. Read more

Updating the SD850 IS from last year is the Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital ELPH. It offers the longest focal range of any ELPH model so far, with a 5x optical zoom lens. Canon has also added Motion Detection Technology, a 10-megapixel imaging sensor and the new 2.5" PureColor II LCD screen to go along with previous features. As with all Digital ELPH's, the camera still includes a full VGA movie mode, Face Detection autofocus and is incredibly easy to operate. ... Read more

The Canon PowerShot Sd89OIS is a very capable little digital camera. Its generous 10 megapixel resolution, combined with a sharp zoom lens provides excellent images and accurate colors. My only complaint is the tiny size of the power (on-off) button. Although I have small hands I have great difficulty accessing the button to turn on the camera. To help alleviate this problem I glued onto the button a rectangular piece of plastic to provide a raised surface, and it has... Read more

This is the 4th Canon Powershot camera that I have owned over the past 10 years. I swear by Powershot over any other camera. The flash is great! Although it may sound unimportant, it actually makes a big difference in any pictures taken indoors, at night, or in any low light. The flash itself reach further than any other camera. Because of it, lowlight pictures come out out much better. The opitcal zoom on this camera is great. It's the strongest optical zoom I've fou... Read more
