It features a 5X optical zoom lens, with a focal range of 37 - 185 mm, which is considerably more than you'll find on most cameras in this class. Although the SD890 has not hit the market with as large of a splash as its predecessor, the SD850, it does offer a far more impressive feature set, albeit with a larger price tag. Interestingly, rather than simply improving upon the highly successful SD850, Canon chose to redesign a great deal of the SD890. Canon PowerShot SD890 IS

Updating the SD850 IS from last year is the Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital ELPH. It offers the longest focal range of any ELPH model so far, with a 5x optical zoom lens. Canon has also added Motion Detection Technology, a 10-megapixel imaging sensor and the new 2.5" PureColor II LCD screen to go along with previous features.
