Excerpt: I purchased the Canon PowerShot SD700IS about two months ago now. I did quite a bit of research online and with sales people while picking out this camera, and it was pretty much every thing I wanted. Initally I was going to go for quality over size and looks, and go for one of the more bulky cameras, but then I remembered I’m not a pro photographer and I don’t probably need all the features of one of the big cameras.
Perfect camera for the casual everyday user. Six years old and still as new

Summary: This is the second one of these I've owned; only because the first one is now 6 years old and performing as new. Only one minor complaint about this camera; there is not a battery indicator to warn you when the battery is about dead. I stood under the approach end of a runway watching the Russian Antonov cargo plane (world's largest plane) coming at me, using this camera to video it passing about 100 feet over my head.
Older camera, but excellent performance and durable.

Summary: I have have used this camera for years. It is an excellent camera inside and outside. I just did a test with newer cameras and this still takes better pics than the 310 and the one above that with the GPS--both by Cannon. My only complaint is red eye reduction could be improved.
Summary: One of the best cameras I've ever owned. Well... Actually, it is the BEST. What I've had is: Ricoh (640x480, 1997), Epson 700 (1998, still up and running!), Toshiba (don't remember the model, but it had 10x optical zoom, 2003), Canon S1 IS (2004), Canon S5 IS (now), Canon SD700 (now). The image quality of SD700 is outstanding. IMO, it takes even better shots than S5. Slim design. Great image stabiliser. The focus assist lamp really helps in low-light environment.
Too bad they discontinued it or didn't make a newer model like it. Buy it!

Summary: I had this camera for over 4 years. It looked and worked as good as the day I got it. I loved this camera! It was stolen while on vacation in May, so I've been looking for another and found one on eBay. Mine was in mint condition but not everyone takes as good a care as I did, so I couldn't expect to get one in perfect condition. But I did get a really nice one in good condition. It will be my vacation camera and I bought a Canson S95 as my main one.
Summary: I currently have the same camera and have had very good luck with it. My friend wanted the same camera because of the ease of using it and the wonderful pictures it takes. The big screen in the back makes it so easy to see what you are taking pictures of.
Summary: I had a SD700 I took to Alaska to back up my DSLR. I found that the SD700 took as good of shots as the DSLR. I found myself using the SD700 for most shots, except for the long telephoto pics of animals. I dropped the SD700 last Aug after taking pics at my grandson's birthday party. I tried a newer SD980 but found the pics not as sharp as with the SD700. I am very glad to have gotten another SD700. It will be with me all the time.
Summary: I have used this particular model for about 4 years. I bought one for my daughter after mine proved to be so reliable. It simply takes great photos. It also has a Canon underwater case which enables one to dive and snorkel. It takes wonderful underwater photos as well. It is easy and intuitive to use. Canon no longer makes and sells this model. Everything available is in used or refurbished condition. If you can find one in excellent to very good shape, you will love it.
