  • Conclusion: Whereas virtually ever other Ixus/ELPH camera I've reviewed over the last few years has failed, in some way, to produce image quality that quite lived up to the promise of such attractive and luxurious external design and construction, the SD 700 IS really does, for the most part, deliver the goods.
  • Pros: Good resolution, excellent edge-to-edge sharpness, 4x zoom range, Very clean results at lower ISO settings, perfectly usable up to ISO 400, Reliable exposure system, Very fast and accurate focus, Very responsive, Excellent user interface, easy to use, Image stabilization, Superb build quality, De...
  • Cons: AiAF focus a bit unpredictable - turn it off, Battery life when using LCD not fantastic, Very little manual control, ISO 800 noisy (low noise reduction means there is detail, however), Finish very susceptible to marks and scratches, Still no exposure information for shutter speeds over 1/60 sec, ...

Canon PowerShot SD700 IS

Photoxels
1 July 2006
  • Summary: The Canon PowerShot SD700 IS is Canon's first Digital ELPH equipped with image stabilization, which helps reduce camera shake and blurred images. Following the "Perpetual Curve" design first seen in the SD500, the Canon SD700 is beautifully and solidly built with an essentially silver body and...

  • Conclusion: The Canon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital ELPH features 6 megapixels, 4 x zoom, a large 2.5 inch LCD, ISO 800 high sensitivity, a stylish tri-color body and is the first ever Digital ELPH to feature an Optical Image Stabilizer.
  • Pros: 4x zoom lens with optical image stabilization, 50% increase in battery life over SD550; overall so-so battery life, Very good LCD visibility, Unlimited, fast continuous shooting, Fast performance, Great 2 cm macro mode, Nice VGA movie recording at 30 FPS, Good image quality with low noise till IS...
  • Cons: LCD resolution lower than competition, Weaker flash versus the SD550; average flash power, No manual controls, "Cheap" buttons, No live histogram; very limited exposure information, Autofocus could be faster; AF is lagging behind competition, Worse image quality than the SD550, Movies limited to ...

Canon Digital IXUS 800IS

Tech2
10 June 2006
  • Excerpt: With some immense competition in the ultra-compact segment, it’s a little tough for a brand to make a lasting impression. The last camera I received in Canon’s IXUS series was not really the kind of camera I would normally recommend, and I honestly didn’t have too many expectations from this one...

Test: Canon Ixus 800 IS

CHIP Online
23 October 2007
  • Pros: Optischer Bildstabilisator, Schnappschuss-tauglich, 4fach-Zoom, Gute Qualität
  • Cons: Relativ teuer
