Consistancy, overall statisfied

  • Summary: It takes consisent pictures. It does not do well with moving shots (for example at a recent wedding- the bride coming down the aisle all shots blurring) but overall very satisfied.

Great camera!

  • Summary: My niece had this camera and her photos were amazing. She showed me all the features and I HAD to have one to replace my heavyweight Canon A40 PowerShot. It's lightweight, easy to carry in pocket or purse, has a large display and a variety of shot modes. Love it!

Love the big screen

  • Summary: I like the camera - last camera was the Canon PowerShot 5 mp. There is a slight flaw in the casing - a dent in the side, but it doesn't make the camera work less. This camera fits in the case I bought for my last camera and that is a definite bonus. The photo quality is still awesome and the added features is nice too.

  • Summary: Over all, I don't have too many complaints and the ones I do have are mostly because of my lack of knowledge/expertise with electronics. I got more than I bargained for...considering I'm an electronic techno-dummie, getting this little camera going is harder than I thought it would be. I like all the shooting options it has, but I have found the program that I loaded into the computer to be hard to figure out.

Something to consider about the SD550...

David Darick, Amazon
11 May 2006
  • Summary: I only have one major concern, so I'm going to make this as short and sweet as I can. First, to give you an idea of my background, I took a couple years of photography classes so I have atleast a little grasp on cameras and shooting in general. I've had several basic 35mm cameras and a couple digital. Lately, my interest in photography has returned and I decided to purchase a camera that is very capable and yet also easily portable.

Cheap, reliable & all-around good camera,4.5 stars

  • Summary: I purchased this camera a couple of weeks ago because I was curious about the DIGIC II processor. (Translation: Jealous of my friend's camera.) I am a Panasonic Lumix fan but have long been impressed by the color output on the point and shoot Canons. The Lumix is a tremendous camera line. I have the FX-7. The FX-9 is supposed to be even better and, and FX-01, a comprehensive upgrade is on the way in May 2006.

Very good but could be better

Traveller, Amazon

  • Summary: This is the best point and shoot I have ever owned - and I have had to buy another one for my wife. It does most things very well, but I miss being able to choose speed and aperture and most shots need moderate sharpening. And it's easy to drop (small and slippery but very stylish). Overall - it's so good that I leave my DSLR at home most days. The battery life seems more than adequate to me.
