The Canon Power-shot SD430 is an ultracompact point-and-shoot camera with wireless connectivity which includes full remote control and capture. PCWorld is a little short of impressed with this one mainly because it is quite overpriced for a 5-megapixel camera. The camera performed satisfactorily in test shots, showing good exposure, color and rendition of detail. What was really disappointing was the battery life. The wireless adapter alone can drain a lot of power, so a fully charged battery should only be enough for a couple of days. Another bummer was the noisy zoom and focus mechanisms which tend to be annoying.

The wireless connection was mostly impressive with good range, fast file transfer and full remote control. Although stylish, compact and packing a host of good features, the price tag left PCWorld unimpressed. The editor at CNET also considers this an average camera, except for the Wi-Fi capability. The overall performance and the image quality haven’t quite been amazing, but the power of the wireless connection makes it a good recommend. Though everything can be controlled remotely from modifying images to printing them, the editor recommends this model only to users who desperately seek wireless connectivity. In contrast, Imaging Resource says that this camera “rocks”. They reviewers seem to be very impressed with the Wi-Fi and the remote capture although the ability to email would have made the model better
