Canon PowerShot SD30 Digital ELPH 5.0 Megapixel
18 October 2010
Summary: I liked that it worked but was a little more scrathced up than I thought it would be from pictures. I purchased it for a gift for my grandson and hesitate to give it to him now that I have received it due to the overall used and scuffed look.
Summary: If you just want a small compact camera to snap a picture here and there then this is the camera for you. If you are looking for quality, look for another camera. Picture quality is mediocre; it can be hazy. The micro function is very poor and cannot take close up pictures at all, even if you were a foot away. I have played with a friends canon camera before and found that the micro function on that camera worked wonderfully.
Summary: First the positives: Great size, and the screen is very good quality. Picture quality is fantastic, and the menus' and options are intuitive and easy to set. The camera also looks great and is a great "take it everywhere" camera. The docking station it comes with is very convenient for charging and transfering photos to your computer. Camera also looks really good. Now the negatives: Biggest problem, the battery! Battery life is a joke!
Summary: I had a 2 MP Elph camera for many years, which I loved mainly for its compact size. I purchased this one as a gift hoping that the recipient would also love the compact features. I have recently borrowed the camera and I was impressed with the easy to use menu, which is the same as my old elph camera. One thing that did not impress me was that if your hand is not perfectly still, your picture comes out blurry.
Summary: The camera size, style, and docking station are excellent. However, the auto-focus is very poor. I have used this camera for two months and almost 30% of the pictures that I have taken are out-of-focus. I finally got to the point of taking at least 3 to 5 pictures of the same subject hoping to end up with one good quality image. It seems to me that the compact size has sacrified the camera's focusing system. In addition, the built in flash is very weak.
