The Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS is a digital camera that is powered by a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor that provides users with images at 13.1 megapixel (4000 x 3000 resolution). The camera also supports video recording at 1280 x 720 (HD) in MOV (H.364 with Linear PCM – monaural) and JPEG images. The PowerShot SD1400 IS allows users to capture a range of images, from close-ups to broad landscapes via its 4x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 5.0-20 mm, aperture range of F2.8-5.9 and lens-shift image stabilization. The camera also features an ISO sensitivity of up to 1600, +/- 2EV in 1/3 stop increments exposure compensation, 15-1/1500 seconds shutter speeds, several shooting modes, White balance adjustments, a self timer, Face Detection, a 2.7 inch PureColor II Touch TFT LCD with 230,000 pixels color support. The camera supports a HDMI connector (Mini-B), USB Hi-Speed interface, AV out (PAL / NTSC switchable) and an AV out (PAL / NTSC switchable) interface. The SD1400 IS supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC, MMCplus, and HC MMCplus memory card slot. It is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery. The camera measures 92 x 56 x 18 mm and weighs 140g. It is available in four color variations, pink, orange, silver and black, and is available in late February for an estimated retail price of $249.99.

The PowerShot SD1400 IS is a digital camera that provides users with increased shooting flexibility with a number of settings through its Smart Auto mode. This provides users with an array of photo personalization. The camera also features Image Effects such as Fish-eye and Miniature Effect. Other features on the camera includes Face Detection self-timer, Smart Shutter scene mode with Smile and Wink self-timers where the camera looks for a wink or smile which triggers and releases the camera's shutter; Smart Auto mode which automatically adjust the camera’s setting to different lighting or movement levels; Smart FE (Flash Exposure) function which automatically adds the optimum level of flash illumination, aperture, ISO and shutter; Low Light Mode which features a wide ISO range (up to 6400) that enables the capturing of low light photos; 720p High Definition (HD) video recoding; and built-in HDMI mini-connector which allows play-back of video and photos on an HDTV. Users can also upload their movies directly to YouTube via the Camera Window. The camera also supports SDXC memory cards with a maximum storage capacity of two terabytes (TB) in SDA standard.
