Summary: The Canon S120 is an excellent upgrade to the S100 I currently own. Picture quality is superb. Focus is sharp and autofocus finds its target quickly and in most every light situation. I found the exposure to be reliabled determined most of the time, and in tricky situations (snow scenes, for example,) exposure correction could be done quickly.
Summary: Photography has been my hobby for 40 yrs. I carried the big heavy bags with a dozen lens, filters, etc. I used a couple of the big name brands but landed when I bought a PowerShot Canon. I found I could shoot a huge percentage of what I wanted with a camera which fit in my shirt pocket. Now with the S101 the percentage of what I could want has grown hugely. The only thing I carry extra is a larger flash. The 1:8 lens takes care of everything within 20 ft.
Excerpt: Goes into my pocket but provides Av or Tv priority like my big DSLR and captures images in RAW, if so desired, for digital darkroom work. While I can see the difference in glass between my big camera and this one, the quality is excellent for the size. The program logic is same as for my big Canon, so easy to navigate.
Pros: Easy to Use, Exposure Program Options, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
Summary: I have been very happy with this little camera. The in camera HDR function is great. Manual control is something that I love - usually the camera gets the metering right but in some situations it makes all the difference. The screen protector and other accessories that come with the camera are junk. The only exception is the spare battery and memory card - those have worked well. The other things are basically worthless.
Summary: This camera was a little more expensive that what I am used to, but it was worth it. The pictures are amazing and it out performs any other camera I've ever had. If I had one thing I would change it would be the zoom. The super zoom cameras are nice to have, but this has normal average zoom capabilities. Occasionally after taking a picture they look blurry on the screen, but when you look at them on the computer they are clear as can be and compete with DSLR camera.
Summary: I replaced my PowerShot S95 with this camera. Great camera as a backup for larger DSL. Very good indoor and low light shots. I carry it in my purse all the time. The pictures are miles ahead of the quality of phone shotsl.
Summary: The S110 is a better value, but the improvement in software in the S120 makes an incrementally better photo and video. The wifi connection to my iPad is so complicated I have yet to succeed, but reading the memory card directly in a MacBook Pro is easy and a mini USB cable also works easily.
