Excerpt: I got this camera a week ago so I have very limited experience taking photos with it. One of the main reasons that I bought it was that it was a point and shoot with a viewfinder. I immediately discovered that the viewfinder is very limited. Here's why: 1.
Summary: Love the camera, but the bundle not too great, the camera bag, is so smal it only fits the camera and no extra batteries or accessories, plus when I opened it it was mildew/ moldy. The SD card won't work, I paid for expedited shipping cause I needed it all for a work outing.
Summary: I do not like the Canon G16. I had the G12 which I was very happy with. The newer model made changers in the screen eliminating a screen cover and a unique screen viewing platform that could vary your way of viewing your photo before shooting.
Summary: Very nice package. But I do not like the camera. Rear screen washes out when camera is held on the vertical. Camera is also hard to hold. Nice pictures but viewfinder is not accurate. I would not buy this camera again.
Excerpt: I purchased my G16 in April 2014 and after using it several times, discovered I was having the same issues my G12 had, exposures that turned out completely white or under exposed images even though the flash functioned. I sent the camera back for warranty repair and hope that solves the problem.
Conclusion: Within a week of opening the box, my Powershot (G16) failed, again. because of its fragile lens construction. My former G10 succumbed to 'lens error' after 3 years, the G16, which is noticeable flimsier, lasted a week of light use, handling with kid gloves. Also, the battery life is much shorter.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, Flimsy Construction, excess heat during moderate use, over mechanised
Summary: Wanted an upgrade from a c. 2007 compact I had so I got the G16. Punchy price but worth it, I thought. Not so. Very disappointed by the sharpness of the photos even though lighting was excellent etc. Zoom is unimpressive versus some of the competition. In short, it's not much of an upgrade.
