Fabulous camera! I wouldn't want to be without it!

Summary: Fantastic camera! The very variable tilt-screen allows for some shots from otherwise almost impossible angles, it also means the screen doesn't suffer from glare. Close-up shots are excellent and I have taken some very clear and detailed pictures from up very close. The batteries last well too. I would recommend this camera to anyone. I carry my G12 and my D400 with 70 - 300 macro zoom on 'serious' shooting days, and my G12 for more relaxed days out.
Excerpt: The Canon G12 is a 10 megapixel camera. I purchased it over a year ago and although it’s not the best camera that I have owned I believe it works fairly well. When I purchased the camera it was used and I paid 300 dollars for it.
Summary: Awesome camera with many features despite being on the small side. You can't go wrong, especially if you're a beginner and are looking to get a camera that is relatively easy to use and still offers amazing picture quality.
Summary: Love this camera!! It takes very good pictures on Auto!! When I get a chance I want to experiment with some of the other settings! The gentleman I purchased this from also included many extras. What a great deal!!!! One of the items was a book by David Busch, "Canon Powershot G12", guide to digital photography. This book has really helped me learn how to operate the camera and the items you can purchase to go with it. I have a cousin who recommended this camera to me.
Summary: I wanted to love this camera, and I did love it when I got it. But only until I started using it. What I think are flaws may not be everyone's idea of flaws. But the cons listed above are serious for me. The viewfinder might as well be a hole in the camera for all it does. If you rely only on the optical viewfinder when zooming, it's likely you'll get badly off-centered pictures. And why it doesn't refocus when you zoom is a mystery. My cheap Kodak can do that!
Pros: Build quality, feel in the hand., Top Dials., A lot in a compact camera., Optical viewfinder.(See Cons.), Swivel LCD., Very good in low light., Good flash performance.
Cons: Viewfinder does not zoom with same parallax as lens., Viewfinder does not refocus when zooming in video., No information in viewfinder., HDR functionality., Shutter lag.
Summary: I bought this camera so that I didn't have to carry my larger Nikon D90 when skiing, traveling, etc. I wanted a smallish camera that took exceptional photos. I got that and more. I have 2 children that play hockey and have been just carrying this camera to the games. It takes great photos but really great video. That was a nice bonus and completely unexpected.
