Summary: Love the size and the many hardware dials. The sensitivity in low light is terrific. The pictures are not bad for a camera with a sensor this small (and it is a small sensor). Many people opt for the S90 (& S95), as that line is closely related in internal hardware, but is smaller and with a brighter f/2.0 lens.
Summary: Despite the excellent rating this camera received from Consumers Report, it did not meet my expectations and I returned it. All pictures taken indoors with artificial light were yellow, even with the flash. I have white walls and in every picture I took, the walls were very yellow. I also was not happy with it's zooming capability as many of the zoomed pictures were not sharp.
Summary: I purchased this camera based upon reviews and friends. The first time I used it the zoom sticks and sometimes will not rspond. I have tried shutting it off thinking it would"reset" but to no avail. So I am disappointed. I must say it was over 100 degrees during use and I will try again when cooler. The few photos I shot are great but the sticking problem is not good..I hate to go through the return process etc..any sugestions????
Excerpt: I can recommend this camera only for those, who want to use in full manual control for shooting raw. Generally the other features of this camera are useless. Pros: Swivel LCD, lens cap. Cons: I am after a one day trip; I shot more then 100 images. I had to discard 40%, because in auto mode with auto flash the exposure time was set (automatically) 1/8-1/30 sec (with firing flash)!!! I don’t understand. Why there is no enforced flash is auto mode.
Summary: I purchased the camera to take micro shots for work after getting a recommendations from Canon. I have used/purchased many Canon digital cameras and have always been impressed. I had hoped to get better closeup shots with this camera but I was somewhat disappointed.
Summary: The G11 camera is a great one. However, the beginning with the G9 this series has a tendency to get dust particles behind the lens which eventually render it useless. Canon does not officially recognize this problem despite fixing it thousands of times. There are many online threads discussing this problem; [...
Summary: The camera is one large step backwards for Canon. Photos and Quality of the camera are not as good as the G9 and G10. I have had all three models, I sold the G10, to get the G11 big big mistake, the G11 is a huge disappointment. Good thing I did not sell my G9,, truly the classic. The plastic of the G11, is a disgrace to the price of the camera. I also tried the S90 and returned that camera as well. The camera to replace or best buy now are Panasonic Lumix modesl.
Summary: I am disappointed to say the least with the performance of the new and much ballyhooed Canon PowerShot G11. I am a little guy and I was getting tired of carrying my Nikon D90 around my neck and wanted to get a compact yet versatile performer. I pinned my hopes on Canon PowerShot G11 to give me the satisfaction and sorry to say that my hopes and expectations have been dashed. I received my G11 yesterday along with a nifty small Canon Speedlite 270EX flash.
Summary: I bought this camera about two years ago, mainly for taking pictures of our daughter. The pictures were great and I'm sure there are plenty of reviews here that will confirm the manual controls and options that it provides - it really got my wife and me into photography. My only criticism of the pictures is that it is difficult to get a shallow depth of field (though it can be done) and the view finder is not great - hence i suspect people rely on the screen view...
