Nice pictures, iffy ergonomics

  • Excerpt: I've used the G1 X Mark II for several months as a pocket camera for field work, taking a few thousand photos in that time (think insurance inspections and similar field jobs). I've used two models in the G-series previously for the same purpose; each wore out after a few years of heavy use.
  • Pros: Good Image Quality, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD
  • Cons: Buttons Easily Bumped

Great Travel Camera!

  • Excerpt: I upgraded from the G1X, and I have been very happy with the G1X Mark II. The IQ is excellent, and the camera is very easy to use. I am somewhat of a traditionalist, but the touch screen controls have really been a nice addition. I have had no issues with focusing speed or accidental thumb press of the WiFi button, both of which seem to be the niggling issues reported by other reviewers.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Nice Body Color, Short Lag Time
  • Cons: Expensive Spare Battery, Usa Grip Is Too Small

Amazing semi-compact camera

Jerad Hill, B&H Photo
21 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Love this camera. Though it is a little too large to pocket, this camera hands down captures comparable photos to a DSLR. I purchased the camera so I could have something to take with me that was not either a cell phone or a Canon DSLR. I have owned Canon G series compacts before and liked them. It is easy to capture photos and transfer them wirelessly to your phone for editing and uploading to social media. NFC is not true NFC on this camera.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Large Clear LCD

Thought I wanted the Sony RX100M3

Sam, B&H Photo
15 July 2014
  • Excerpt: After lots of research I purchased the new Sony RX100 Mark III but after a couple of weeks of testing, it was returned and I ordered the G1X Mark II and now I'm happy. The results I've gotten so far with my new G1X MII (I also owned and loved the G1X MI) have been more than I expected. My first shoot included lots of avaiable light and fill flash shots of people and even the JPG's impressed me; the color and skin tones were beautiful.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Short Lag Time, Small / Compact
  • Cons: No Viewfinder, Short Battery Life
