Summary: I recommend spending your money on a different brand’s waterproof camera.
Pros: Water-proof Typical photo quality Typical camera size
Cons: I have had many issues with this product. The camera was typical of an underwater camera, but the issues and service were not. A year after getting the camera there was an error with a sensor that required service. Canon an outrageous price for service, regardless of how simple the issue is to so...
Excerpt: This has been a great little knock about camera that I use for work. I climb towers for a living and it has been bouncing around in my shoulder bag to take technical shots with during repairs with no protection and it hasnt missed a beat.
Pros: Takes great pics, easy to use, tough, and it's waterproof. I like to canoe and was missing some chances to take photos because I'd have to dig my camera out of a waterproof bag to take a picture. No longer. It's macro ability is also good. I've gotten some very nice closeups of flowers and insects.
Cons: Bulkier than most point & shoots but I knew that before I bought it. Being waterproof and tough is more important to me.
Excerpt: The picture quality is quite good and I was happy with this camera until I used it for the first time under water. I only managed to take four pictures on a snorkel trip to Maui, nothing more than two feet deep. The screen turned dark and upon inspection I found the camera full of sea water.
Pros: I absolutly LOVE this camera. I origionaly bought it to use for snorkeling trips only for it's underwater capability but it turns out it takes better pictures than any of my other Canon cameras. Picture quality isn't quite as good as a nice DSLR, but it's exceptional for a point and shoot. I have...
Cons: The only con is that this camera is a little bit more bulky than most of Canon's non-watterproof cameras, but this is because the optical zoom needs to be inside the casing, and can't project out of it.
Summary: I am very happy with my purchase and have not had any problems. I would highly recommend it
Pros: Great overall camera. I've owned it over 2 years and have had no problems. I use it recreationally outdoors but have not gone below a couple of feet in the water. Lots of features and 12.1 megapixels. I am very happy with my purchase and have not had any problems.
Summary: Lots of buttons - could be a con, but reading the manual was a huge help and as I tend to do a lot more than just point and shoot, this was extremely valuable. I'd consider buying a second battery if you planned to use it continuously.
Pros: Excellent quality photos. Bright screen and lots of choices for additional on-display info. Reasonable battery life. Fast turn-on time. Love the presets, especially for underwater - great color balance correction. Was happy to see the UI had all the features you might want to use the camera in ma...
Cons: The 3x optical zoom range is rather limited. That's suddenly *very* noticeable on, say, a whale watch. I'd rather not use the electronic zoom unless really necessary as quality goes down noticeably. There is no RAW format setting. That has to be a built-in limitation - there's no real need to omi...
Pros: Good quality camera. I have owned one for over two years and have yet to face any major issues.
Cons: It has trouble taking quality photos in very bright light, but this can often be fixed by using the program mode. The waterproof lining for the memory card and battery feels a bit unreliable. It's just a piece of rubber. I have not had any leakage but I am afraid to go diving with this camera.
Cons: Failed on the second day. Literally worked fine on day 1 and then day 2 water entered from either the batter door or the A/V out door. I was pretty careful to make sure that we did not accidentally knock those open in the water. Its just a lousy design. Be aware and look elsewhere. Im a long time...
