An older camera with good features. Easy to use and learn.

  • Summary: This is an older model that is no longer sold by Canon. We purchased this camera to replace one that we use for underwater photography. The camera arrived well packaged and in excellent shape. It performed perfectly well on our dives. Being an older camera, the LCD is of lower quality than the one on newer cameras. The pizel count is similarly lower at 7.1 Mpixels.

Great camera but buy stock in a battery company

Rick Kaneen "PrPro", Amazon

  • Summary: Canon has an excellent rep with its digital cameras and the A710 is one of the latest in that long line. It's a great camera...not too small to handle with but small enough to be slipped into a jacket pocket. The zoom works well and the stabilization keeps zoomed photos clear, although a bit grainy at full zoom. Syncing with the computer couldn't be easier...load the included software and you're ready to go. I couldn't believe how easy it was to do this.

Awesome camera, great IS, little quircks

  • Summary: I got a Canon SD600 Digital Elph camera for Christmas. This is after owning and using a SD30 for about 4 years, give or take. I was deciding between getting the A710, or a Casio Z70/700 or similar. I decided on Canons, due to supposedly higher image quality. The Casio's have great/fast interfaces. I got my A710 from Amazon, and thought "I can't wait till it's charged and I can use it". Then I remembered, it uses normal batteries!

Superb middle-of -the-road compact

Eric T. Ford, Amazon
12 July 2007
  • Summary: The A710 falls into a strange niche -- that is, it has no niche. It has a long zoom range, but not the screaming 12x reach of a superzoom. It has image stabilization but it lacks the larger, 10mp sensor of other new compacts. It's smaller and cheaper than the G7, but has fewer features, too. It has more features than an ultra-compact, but it's not as pocketable.

Real Power & Still Fits in Your Pocket

J. Nelson "jerry-va", Amazon

  • Summary: My Camera Review The A710 IS ("A-series 7 Megapix ImageStabiized) Canon doesn't carry the price premium of either the "miniature" digicams or the big, fancy SLRs. Yet it packs a lot of the SLR's power and flexibility and you can still drop it into your pocket and run. If you haven't changed your camera in a couple years, here's what'll make you glad you waited until now: 1.

Happy

  • Summary: I was pleased with the response time on this camera compaired to other digitals. It was nice to have all the shooting options like indoor and kids/pets, it did make a difference. I did notice that when I had it in one setting like with the flash off, if I would change one element, everything would reset and the flash would come back on. This made it difficult at times when you have to change settings quickly.

  • Summary: This camera is a little bulky compared to today's thin new camera's but the quality of the pictures are great. Be prepared to carry it around in a case and not your purse. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Happy with purchase

  • Summary: This camera has a lot of nice features. The Image stabilization is great. Lots of shooting modes to choose from. One of the few digital cameras available that still has a viewfinder as well as a screen. The screen in the back is large. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. It does tear through batteries though.
